@CRIXUSwasHERE @GlennB55478 Never tried to change the number of H1Bs; that bill was aimed only at how the limited number of H1Bs are allocated. Specifically, it was to get rid of the discriminatory waiting periods applicable to applicants from heavily populated countries.

A city permit for Golconda Express lists Naveen Tummala as business owner. His wife is listed as the owner too. He’s on an H-1B visa. She was home. He was at the food truck window taking orders. H-1B authorization is conditional: one sponsoring employer, one specific role, no outside self-employment. He says he was helping unpaid. The permit says he’s the owner. The footage and permit are going to USCIS and the Department of Labor. Someone explain how this is allowed. Credit: @saragonzalestx

“I graduated college seven years ago and I remember in high school them telling us, ‘learn to code and you’ll have a good job,'” Joseph Ibrahim, an unemployed tech worker based in Florida, told the DCNF. “Well, it turns out they outsource the coding jobs also, not just the manufacturing jobs.” Ibrahim got a degree in information systems, business analytics and information systems, but has been struggling to find work since April. Unlike many of the tech workers who spoke to the DCNF, he had no problem being identified by his full name. “What are they gonna do?” Ibrahim asked. “They’re already not hiring me.” “You know, if I went into college and on the pamphlet, there were like, ‘pros and cons of studying something in computer science: you may have to train your replacement at some point in your career,’ I would have never studied this,” he said." Hey everyone, please don't mistake my silence for stepping away. It’s the opposite. For a long time, I’ve taken this fight to elected officials, Attorneys General, DOJ, and even members of the administration. I’ve made the case for American workers over and over. But the truth is, that hasn’t been enough. So I’m stepping up in a different way. The lengths some of these companies go to discriminate against Americans in favor of cheap foreign labor is truly disturbing. Glad to see some accountability. But the easiest thing to do is simply end the visas that provide the pathway to discriminate in the first place.

But because a company could pay someone else less to do the work I was already doing. That’s what H-1B really is: corporate America replacing American workers with cheaper labor.
