Former Deputy U.S. Marshal Sentenced for Assault on Prisoner in Louisiana Courthouse “The great majority of law enforcement officers do essential work honorably and lawfully under difficult and high-risk conditions,” said @AAGDhillon. “But Joshua Firmin knowingly overstepped his authority when he assaulted a shackled prisoner and failed to uphold the trust placed in him when he lied about it in official documents. Today’s sentence represents appropriate accountability, and we are grateful to the law enforcement personnel who reported the misconduct and cooperated with the investigation.” Read more: justice.gov/opa/pr/former-…

This week the Civil Rights Division and the Jersey City Board of Education entered a voluntary settlement agreement to end race and national origin discrimination in student admissions at Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School, a college prep magnet school with a competitive admissions process. The settlement agreement resolves the Department’s investigation under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin. “Federal law requires that all students, regardless of their race or national origin, be allowed to compete for admission to the best schools in their district — and this Department of Justice will ensure they have equal opportunity to do so.” -@AAGDhillon Read more: justice.gov/opa/pr/justice…

“The Civil Rights Division will defend law-abiding citizens from states that seek to disarm them illegally,” said @AAGDhillon. “This lawsuit is yet another example of this Justice Department enforcing the Second Amendment by protecting citizens against unconstitutional state regulation of firearms.”
U.S. Department of Justice@TheJusticeDept

Justice Department SUES CALIFORNIA to Halt Glock Ban “The Second Amendment is a sacred right belonging to all Americans, even those in California. California cannot ban the most popular type of handgun in America,” said Acting Attorney General @DAGToddBlanche. “We will work to stop this blatant trampling of our rights by the California government to protect the rights of lawful gun owners.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/justice…

🏆 TITLE IX VICTORY AT SCOTUS 🏆   The Court rejected the radical lie that biology doesn’t matter in girls’ sports. Schools can—and will—protect women and girls from male competition. Common sense won.   The fight isn’t over. We’re just getting started. Stay tuned! ⚽️🏀🥎🎾🏒🏐
