One of Two: My Story of Eton, Survival, and the Rise of the Nigerian Diaspora By Kio Amachree When I was at Eton College in the seventies, out of a student body of 1,200 boys, I — Kio Amachree — was one of only two Black students. When the other Black student ran away, I was left alone to face the racism. From 1970 to 1975, there were not that many Black people in England. Those that were there were mostly West Indians, who worked on the buses and in the trains in menial jobs. Africans were there to study, and businessmen like my father flew in and flew out. To put this in context: by 1971, according to the UK Census, only approximately 27,000 Nigerians were residing in the whole of England and Wales. Today, the 2021 Census recorded 270,768 people in England and Wales who identified Nigeria as their country of birth, and Nigerians now make up the third largest nationality group in the United Kingdom. In the United States, where my father was serving as the United Nations’ first African Under-Secretary-General in 1965 — the year he sent me away to boarding school aged eight — the Nigerian presence was even smaller. As late as 1978, there were only 2,000 Nigerian immigrants in the entire United States. Today, the 2022 American Community Survey estimates 712,000 residents of the US are of Nigerian ancestry, and Nigeria is now the African country with the most migrants to the United States. I am used to being outnumbered. I am used to being insulted, bullied, attacked and hated. It has been part and parcel of my life. And when you are sent away from home aged eight, thousands of miles away — in my case New York, because my father was working at the United Nations — you either toughen up fast or fade away into nothingness. Most of the Nigerian friends who were at school with me died young, very young — victims of exposure to hatred, cultural differences, and insecurities. After some time I got fed up attending funerals of men who died before they reached thirty. I am a survivor. I had a strict father who instilled confidence in me and a deep love for Nigeria, and I became famous at school for always flying the Nigerian flag. When I graduated from Eton in 1975, I was the first Black student to have passed through that elite school without succumbing to racism and whatever other problems the other African students could not deal with. I was the first in 500 years. Today there are 40 Nigerians at Eton, many other Africans, all enjoying the school without the problems I faced in the seventies. Nigerians need to understand we are many in number, and because we are many in number we have always been the first to achieve milestones. This gives us an upper hand when it comes to experiencing this thing they call life. If my experiences, my education and my vast network of connections can help the people of Nigeria, it was all part of my father’s plan when he sent me to these elite schools. I hope the information I have been able to gather and present to you — all of which is available on any AI tool as well as Google, and easy to verify if you have a smartphone and are connected to the internet — is of use. I am no genius. I am not James Bond. All I did was ask questions and get answers from the many files that are easily available and accessible online. I am very difficult to intimidate and I do not scare easily, so don’t waste your time wishing me evil — it will only bounce back at you. To those of you that have thanked me for the information I have presented, I thank you for taking the time to read my posts. I pray to God you act upon the information presented, because I for one am still in shock by what I have found. God Bless you all. God Bless Nigeria! History has been made as Oyo-born banker, Adebayo Ameenah Omotunmise, has attained the prestigious status of Chartered Banker through the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), becoming the first known niqab-wearing Muslim woman in Nigeria to achieve the distinction. Dr Ameenah was inducted as a chartered banker on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Queen Park Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. ~InsideOyo

So the boy has been expelled and his father received a pubic disgrace. It is quite unfortunate. I have read comments on social media alluding to the fact that the boy’s father is a perfect gentleman. Seems like people know him fairly well. Testimonies abound to the fact that he treats people well and cannot hurt a fly. So, how did this happen to his son? What went wrong? May our children not surprise us. May they not shame us. I also noticed something in this video. The boy was apologising to the crowd booing him. Is that a sign of true remorse? Is there any chance that he can be reformed? I also hope that the other kids who equally molested the pupil were disciplined including the one who made that video recording. I ask again; I hope the bullied pupil is okay especially emotionally and psychologically. So many talking points in this saga. Quite unfortunate indeed. #saynotobullying #justice #parenting

@MasterMaliq What was 2 weeks war between Iran and Israel to you. When a tiny country dominating your Airspace and almost killed all the Iranian Cabinets in one meeting that's not only victory to Israel. It's called supremacy

I stand with our allies in the US and Israel as they take on the threat of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its vile regime. The same regime that carries out attacks on the UK and on our citizens, that seeks to build nuclear weapons that would threaten our country and that brutally repressed pro-democracy protests only months ago and murdered thousands of its own people. Under my leadership, the Conservative Party will always put our national security first and work with our allies to make the world a safer place.

There was a time in my hometown that Muslim imams instructed Muslim guys to target Christian girls to befriend and impregnate,m them, they see it as a way of conquering. The matter got so serious(I find it shameful) that CAN in my town had to start a campaign of warning Christian girls against dating Muslim guys.

Under the abominable @officialABAT, the Ọọni of Ifẹ, the Aláàfin of Oyo, the Osemawe of Ondo, the Ila of Ila Orangun, the Timi of Ede, the Olowo of Owo, the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode and other prominent Yorùbá Obas will be unalived, and Fulani Emirs will be turbanned in their place. Mark my words, o ye Yorùbá bastards. This and more will happen, because you chorused Èmilókàn, and shamelessly sang "on your mandate". The same will happen to all other indigenous nations in Nigeria.... ....UNLESS there is an urgent and immediate awakening, and a massive, ferocious pushback until Tinubu, his APC Death Cult and their Fulani Muslim Jihadist Terrorist hordes are permanently neutralised. Come with your usual foolish allegations, as your people and kings are picked off one-by-one by the real terrorists, while you brothers keep foolishly fighting each other online like the idiots that you are.

Our Elders say that when a FATHER is behind his SON'S criminal activities he will go into any house to steal through the front door. This man talking isn't just an OLD MAN he is a TRANSITIONAL RULER from Enugu and also a FORMER AMBASSADOR who represented the whole of Nigeria in foreign country. How is he different from Peter Obi and the Chukwudi at Alaba International Market??? When these people compare Igboho to Kanu shouldnt they be pointing at the parallels or their points of comparisons? 1..Did Igboho sit somewhere faraway hidden at a safe distance to use SW RADIO to propagate HATE SPEECH against Nigeria? No! 2. Did Igboho carry arms against the Federal Government of Nigeria? No! 3. Did Igboho confront the security officers of Nigerian Government and engaged them in a gun fight or kill anyone of them? No! 4. Did Igboho threaten to kill Nigeria's sitting President, Buhari at the time? No! 5. Did Igboho order the burning of any Nigerian city including Government offices and Police station and killing of Policemen and Soldiers as it happened on 20th October 2020 in Lagos State under cover of #EndSARS ? No! 6. Did Igboho ever threatened to us Armed struggle to achieve his constitutionally.rigjts to desire for Self-determination? No! 7. Did Igboho cause disruption to the economy and daily movement of people on any particular day like Kanu did with SIT-AT-HOME for 52 days a year? No 8. Did Igboho kill a single identified human being in the course of his campaigns? No! 9. When Igboho was clamped down in detention in Benin Republic and when agents of the DSS crashed into his Ibadan house what did he do? Did he go to court to teach them law? No!!! He went with superior argument in Nigeria and Benin Republic during the reign of Buhari and he WON in both cases. 10. How many Yoruba traditional, political and religious leaders every come out to publicly approve or identify with Igboho's methods? There is at least one audio recording of Kanu giving orders to his IPOB network to get 2,000 HUMAN HEADS to bury his fallen comrade Ikonzo and these people actually started doing it. They murdered many people, HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF IBOS WERE MURDERED IN IBO LAND by these savages. These lives included that of Dr. Chike Akinyuli, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak etc When will this Eze and other Ibo Elders speak for those VICTIMS OF NNAMDI KANU or their lives doesn't matter??? Those ones can die in vain for Kanu's pleasure? Did the Ibo elders miss these bits of news on Nnamdi Kanu's activities? It is very obvious that the elders of Ibo land approved of what Kanu was doing hence their fear of backlash from the Kanu boys, the miscreants they sent on idiotic errands. Very shameful #Igbimoomoyoruba #ThinkYorubaFirst © Adedamola Adetayo 18 February 2026
