I had the honor of working with Shireen at UNGA back in 2014. She was a wonderful, kind, and brilliant person who inspired so many in her homeland and beyond. This treatment of those paying their respects is simple unconscionable. Nothing can justify this.

Audible gasps and cries in the newsroom as Israeli riot police beat mourners so heavily they dropped Shireen Abu Akleh’s coffin. Unbelievable.
