This week, I got to spend each day in a training on LETRS. Each day we covered each of the 4 units. As you can see, my book has lots of sticky notes, so I can refer back to this throughout my first year (and beyond)!!

After being sick with COVID and missing my last two days of student teaching, I was finally able to come back today to say “goodbye!” Such a bittersweet moment! Now onto my position at Dexter Elementary on Monday!

My pinecone Christmas tree I made with my students! Behind me is the snowflake crayon resist paintings I helped them create! What a fabulous week! Now onto Thanksgiving Break!! Next Thursday will be my last day with this amazing bunch of kiddos🥲

The goal should not be to control a class. A class can be controlled through fear, intimidation, and punishment.
The goal should be to have high expectations, high support, high engagement, and a high sense of belonging.

This week we started the book Horrible Harry at Halloween! After reading chapter 1, I asked my students to predict what Harry would dress as for Halloween! This is what they came up with! I love displaying their work in the hallway!

A couple weeks ago, I shared my bucket filler lesson. That night one of my students spent her evening handwriting bucket fillers papers for people in our classroom. Here is what she wrote for me. I am so glad to see her taking this to heart!!

Today is indigenous peoples' day which celebrates & honors Native American peoples & commemorates their histories and cultures. We encourage everyone to learn about Native communities & their histories and recognize the important work of Native students, staff, & faculty at IU.

Today, during our SEL time, we read the book “How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids!” After discussing bucket fillers versus bucket drippers, we practiced filling each others’ buckets! Each student was given 3 slips of paper to fill out and put in another student’s bucket!
