In his memory, Prof. Aviad Hacohen and I have published a nearly 3,000-word profile in @MakorRishon on his deep friendship with Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, including remarkable previously unpublished letters in which The Rav urgently appealed for financial support on behalf of Rav Chaim Heller. @FriedaVizel It was a lovely listen. We were nowhere near as strict, but my mother z"l was also an incredibly organized person who for years made it a point to finish Pesach prep with enough time to go out to the movies the night before.

@Eli_Rubin I actually had a mail exchange (postal mail - look it up, kids!) with an Israeli Deep Springer in the early '90s. He noted that, while there wasn't any kosher food in the area, he *and the other Jewish student there* did fast on Yom Kippur; fascinating place...

Closed by Covid; a shuttered and later abandoned church on the back streets of Chicago, Illinois. The pandemic of 2020 closed the doors of this place, and they never reopened.
