|| oomfs who know how to draw, i have a genuine question: is tracing over a photo wrong? i know tracing over someone else's drawing is plagiarism, but i'm genuinely wondering if tracing over a photo is also considered wrong and unethical please, educate me about it!!

@felmiepell // If anything, what I do is take a picture of an aspect of someone's artstyle and I practice doing it on my own time. That's how I ended up doing eyes the way I do. I studied someone's artstyle. And that's perfectly allowed too!

@egretswan || i felt the need to ask because i'm super duper new to drawing and i've heard that tracing, if used correctly, is also good for beginners to practice!! however, it's also very easy to get lost along the way in tracing and end up doing things wrong

@felmiepell // Yes, that is true. Many people, including myself, use it for practice. As long as you aren't tracing every little thing it's alright. If you want to do Epel's hair, I just suggest getting a photo to reference and look at to see the general shape.
