I accidentally broke my girlfriend's 5-year-old iPad and now she expects a brand new, bigger one even though we're deep in debt. Seriously. She's been out of a job for a year, living off my salary, and we've got moderate debt. So money is TIGHT. Her old iPad was 5 years old, she paid $1200 for it back then. I offered to buy her a refurbished version of the exact same model for $500. A fair replacement, right? Nope. She wants the newest, largest one for $1350 and claims refurbished stuff is unreliable and hers 'could've lasted years more'. I told her it feels like she's using my accident for a massive upgrade. Her response? I'm guilt-tripping her for MY mistake and I should just watch where I walk. Am I wrong for not wanting to pay $1350 for a replacement that should cost $500, especially when we're struggling?

No height, no build, no hair colour, clothes they were wearing, accents, nothing. 4 men raped a woman, according to locals, in a 2 hour ordeal, and they have the cctv, but they cant provide ANY description at this time. Since Saturday. I can guarantee she gave a very detailed description, down to their smell.

Epsom Police have released a statement as THOUSANDS of people are demanding answers: “We are aware that there is continued concern amongst the local community following a report of a rape which we received in the early hours on Saturday (11 April). We would like to reassure you that we are working diligently to establish the sequence of events and to clarify the circumstances and the details of those involved in the incident which is reported to have taken place between 2am and 4am outside Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road. As part of this investigation, we have already interviewed a number of witnesses and carried out extensive house-to-house enquiries. We are also reviewing CCTV footage from the route the victim took around the time of the incident to build a picture of what happened. Unfortunately at this stage, we still do not have sufficient information to release the descriptions of the suspects. However, we are continuing to work with the victim, who is being supported by a specialist Sexual Offences Liaison Officer through the process, to progress these enquiries. East Surrey Chief Superintendent Mark Chapman said: “I understand the distress and concern that this incident has caused, both for the victim herself and amongst our local communities, and I want you to reassure you that we are working hard to progress this investigation. “While we have already carried out extensive enquiries, we do not have sufficient information at this time to update you with the descriptions of the suspects. New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced the location of the city’s first publicly owned supermarket, marking a step towards delivering on his pledge to bring down the cost of food.
The city will spend $30m (£22.3m) on the store, which is due to open next year at a marketplace in East Harlem, Mamdani announced on Sunday during an address to mark his first 100 days in office.
He wants to open five of the stores - one for each of the city’s boroughs - before the end of his first term in 2029. They will operate without paying rent or taxes and pass those savings onto shoppers.
During his address, Mamdani rebutted neoliberal arguments about the effectiveness of publicly owned businesses.
"Some will insist that city-owned businesses do not work, that government cannot keep up with corporations," he said. "My answer to them is simple: I look forward to the competition. May the most affordable grocery store win."
Mamdani has been quick to deliver on several of his major campaign pledges – many of them aimed at bringing down the cost of living – since taking office on 1 January. He announced the introduction of a free childcare scheme, intervened on behalf of tenants living in poor conditions and secured millions of dollars of restitution for workers.
Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders made a surprise appearance at Mamdani’s address.
"I know that the mayor has been criticised and some say this is a radical idea," he told the crowd. "I'll tell you what is a radical idea: Giving tax breaks to billionaires. Throwing people off health care. That's radical. What's radical is starting a terrible war. That's radical. But providing affordable food to working families? That's not radical, it's exactly the right thing to do."

“A group of men”have gang raped a woman in Epsom.
She’s just a young woman leaving a nightclub alone at 2am which she should be able to do. Doesn’t matter what she wore, drank, said or did or what she ever did in the past. She bears no responsibility for the depravity of these vile men.
I hope these men are caught swiftly and the worst the law has available in the way of punishment delivered to them.

Surely a more useful comparison would be to compare health outcomes for black women in Africa with black women in Britain.

Green Party activist Howard Beaumont has launched a petition demanding councils rip down ALL flags from Essex lampposts, including Union Jacks and St George’s crosses.
