This comparison sounds compelling, but it’s mixing two very different things. Social Security isn’t an investment account, it’s a baseline safety net. It provides inflation-adjusted, lifelong income, plus disability and survivor coverage. The tradeoff is lower returns. An S&P 500 investment, on the other hand, offers higher expected returns but with volatility, drawdowns, and no guarantees. Also, the math assumes perfect market returns for decades and ignores employer contributions, taxes, and real-world behavior. So it’s not “SS vs investing.” It’s insurance vs growth. The smarter approach is to use both: rely on Social Security for stability, and build wealth through markets on top of it.

The max one can pay into social security per year is $10,453.20. If you did that every year from age 18 until retirement, the max you’ll get from SS is $4,873 /month. If you put it into an S&P index fund instead, you would receive $32,583 per month. Social Security is a scam.

Ok here is my take for a new @Rangers “State Connect” jersey, which avoids having to tie the DFW cities together lol. I used the same 80s gray jersey from the new City Connects as the base inspiration, as well as the Nationals previous cherry blossom jerseys. State elements include the state flower (bluebonnet), the star and cannon from the “Come and Take It” flag on the sleeve, and the “de Zavala” flag design for the center of the hat. I also made a white and powder blue top, which in this alternate reality allows the club to bring back the red jerseys for Sundays lol. What do yall think? @Blutman27 Not top two in Dallas in my experience. Unless you're saying Mavs lost majority of their fans after the Luka trade (which is not quite the case), Mavs are still the #2 sports franchise in Dallas for most fans imo.
