Wikipedia editors spent seven years and 140,000 words (longer than Homer's Odyssey) fighting over A SINGLE LETTER in the name of this dairy product. Thread!

Hello
Hello@atallsteve·
@depthsofwiki I prefer Yoghurt cuz the gh is supposed to represent the Turkish ğ traditionally written as غ (like Afghanistan, ghoul, Baghdad, Uyghur, etc.)

Apparently that Rabbit AI company was originally a "NFT video game" scam company that changed its name and ghosted all its NFT customers to rebrand as an AI device company

@FreyaHolmer This but for miltech. It’s arguably a necessary evil, not something to be proud of. Humanity’s greatest sin.

@kettanaito I hate this so much. It seems like all font pricing nowadays is usage based. I wanted a Futura style font for my portfolio redesign and couldn’t find any without a fixed price. In the end I picked an open source one, and they didn’t get any money from me. That’s dumb.

Font pricing never made sense to me. So, you buy the license to use, that's clear. Then, based on your usage, you pay additional fees. For example, you use a webfont and your site goes popular. Now you have to pay more for the font, somehow. As if the value of the font changed . . . It's similar for the print. You purchase a font for a book, and you pay extra for the number of copies printed. I really don't get it. A font is a finite thing. It took time to design and develop, and now I want to purchase it. Imagine I build a site for you and require you to pay me extra if your site goes successful.

Türkiye'de custom Shopify teması gelişiriyoruz denen projelere baktığımda hepsi satın alınmış bir tema üzerinden minumum kodlama ile hayata geçirilmiş projeler olduğunu görüyorum. Sonra bir de bunlara "özel geliştirme" diyorlar. Gerçekten özel tema nasıl geliştirilir bir fikirleri yok :)

is there a way to export a single webpage, pulling in js modules and all that properly? I can't find a way to do it, chrome's ctrl+S doesn't seem to include js modules/.mjs files :c I don't want to have to learn webpack just for this ;-;

Says the government-appointed (despite a 95% vote of no confidence) head of Turkey's foremost university, where student protesters have been arrested and professors have been holding a protest vigil every day for 1208 days.

We are deeply saddened by the arrest of Emory's Department Chair of Philosophy. This troubling incident not only raises serious concerns about the state of academic freedom but also casts a shadow over the reputation of respected academic institutions. We stand in solidarity with the academic community that raises peaceful voices against brutality in Gaza. @EmoryUniversity @gregfenves

@jjenzz @ryanflorence I think server waterfalls don't get much attention because the "recommended" approach is to let your server close to your data, and servers speak to each other faster than the users speaks to the server. Unfortunately this doesn't always hold true.

I think folks don’t realize that at Shopify we probably have the most production experience with RSC than anybody (Hydrogen v1) - there will be waterfalls - there will be n+1 nightmares - your infra determines how costly these facts are I’m not just talking out of my butt
Oscar Luis Jiménez@oljimenez

@ryanflorence I don't think RSC means waterfalls always. But yeah, you could introduce them more vs remix loaders. You just need to know how to use them right i guess.

@frontsideair @vadidekivolkan Also, I would like to see an actual project (a medium-sized one, mind you; not a few classes or functions) written by AI; without consuming an entire years worth of electricity for a whole city. I am willing to accept AI is a better programmer than me when (not if) that happens.
