After today’s events the EDL should be proscribed as a terrorist organisation and its leaders arrested and sent to prison. RT if you agree.

@59W00dy59 Regardless of anything that preceded the footage we have seen already, at no point is kicking someone in the head then stamping on them a proportionate response; especially as the guy was already restrained.

Everyone is on about the Police Incident at Manchester Airport but Andy Burnham has admitted that unseen video evidence clearly shows what happened before the video most people are commenting on. It appears that the bodycam footage is quite damming against the so called victims.

Just how long are Labour going to keep saying they've only just seen the books and things are worse than expected? It's already getting on my nerves. They can either govern, or they can't, get on with it, or get out.

Even with his huge majority, Keir Starmer is refusing to tolerate dissent from his MPs. His chief whip Sir Alan Campbell is suspending the universal credit rebels John McDonnell, Becky Long-Bailey and the others for a minimum of six months. This is what he has written them “Re: Suspension of the Labour Whip I am writing to notify you that I am suspending you from the Labour Whip due to your failure to comply with the whip and your decision to vote against the Party’s position on the King’s Speech. The PLP Standing Orders state the following regarding the obligation of Labour Members to comply with the Whip: “While the Party recognises the right of Members to abstain from voting in the House on matters of deeply held personal conviction, any such possible intention shall be intimated in advance and as soon as possible to the Chief Whip. This does not entitle Members to vote contrary to a decision of the Cabinet.” I am therefore issuing you with a precautionary suspension under the Standing Orders of the Parliamentary Labour Party. Your suspension will initially be for six months. During this period, you are not suspended from the obligations of the whip. At the end of this period, I will make a judgement about restoring the whip based on your conduct during the suspension and your willingness to comply with the whip in the future. If you wish to meet to discuss this, please contact the Government Whips’ Office to arrange a meeting. I will report your suspension to the Cabinet, the NEC, the next meeting of both the Parliamentary Committee and the Parliamentary Labour Party and your CLP. I will also send you a paper copy of this letter. Yours sincerely, Rt Hon Sir Alan Campbell MP Government Chief Whip”

@Mike_Fabricant By your own logic we shouldnt have implemented Brexit; 46.5M registered Voters; 72% Turnout; 17.4M voted for it; representing only 37% of registered voters... But thats not how elections are counted is it....

@Mike_Fabricant Why; everyone had the opportunity to vote; if people cant be arsed to get out then thats their problem. I have no doubt that if you had won in similar circumstances you would have crowed about your masive mandate for change.

@mattwardman @hazr198 @reformukwales So it appears to be a facebook account not a twitter feed. (hence no handle) but you can tell by the likes/ comments part at the bottom. A cursory glance at their page doesnt show this post. But thats not to say they havent since deleted it.

@christopherhope You know what, I prefer a parliment where people despite political differences, and despite having different ideas of what is good for the country can still get on and be decent people to each other. Cross party relationships strengthen our democracy not weaken it

@aliciakearns While I slightly agree we should not be relying on the US for support given their current isolationist trajectory, I would draw you attention to: x.com/israndomasis/s…

@RobertJenrick Im posting this on every @Conservatives MPs timeline who are complaining about defense spending. Not once since 2010 when you lot took office did you spend 2.5% of GDP on defense; in fact you oversaw a gradual decline in spending on defense.

The confirmation of JD Vance as Trump’s running mate only cements the need for the Government to urgently set out a timetable to meet 2.5% of GDP, rising to 3%, on defence. Old certainties can no longer be taken for granted and firm action is needed to ensure our own, and European, security.

Apparently this will report back mid 2025, do we have this much time to be carrying out this review given the rapidity of events unfolding around the world? Once the review findings are established we’ll have to wait to find how they’ll be acted upon, how long will that take?
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

I promised to deliver change. I promised action not words. One of my first acts is to launch the Strategic Defence Review to bolster and respect our Armed Forces, responsibly increase defence spending and keep you safe. A new approach to tackle international threats head-on.

We don’t need another lengthy review when the conclusion is already clear. We urgently need to increase defence spending to 3% GDP and restore the military advantage lost since the 1990s. Peace is achieved through strength.

@SarBritcliffeMP Since 2010 when your party took power, not once has the defense spending been > 2.5%; in fact your party oversaw a constant reduction in spending, until Russia invaded Ukraine then you apparently woke up, but even then it peaked at 2.35%

@LeeJone50103071 I will also state that the republicans who have been saying this is because of the democrats are also vile. The speech of violence has been coming from the right, be it civil war statements, or hanging politicians. This is a crows home to roost moment.

@LeeJone50103071 There is going to be so much vitriol and politicing from this, its bad enough. Lets not play into the whole false flag narrative that there is no evidence of. Press are always at rallys and one was bound to get a well framed shot, purely by a numbers game.

The cameraman just happened to get the perfect shot. Quick thinking or planned in advance? This is awful of me, but I can't help but think this was preplanned.
