Berivan Molani, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman from Sardasht, was killed during U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on the Zafaraniyeh district of Tehran. Sources told Hengaw that Molani, who was residing in Tehran, was killed on the evening of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, during a strike targeting Esmail Khatib, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence. Her body was later transferred to Sardasht for burial. Hengaw has learned that Molani’s family was engaged in foreign currency trading in Tehran, while she herself spent much of the year residing in Dubai. The bombing caused significant destruction to residential buildings in the area, including Molani’s home on Makooyi Poor Street, and resulted in the deaths of several other civilians.

Just spoke to my friend ilam, he crossed the border into west Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan) I asked why the Kurds are not rising up, he said “The US hit the Kurdish areas the hardest, in Ilam they hit a checkpoint and killed a few Kurdish families. In the beginning it wasn’t bad they mainly hit buildings known to be Passdaran (IRGC) but then they started bombing everything. I know a lot of people that lost someone…” he also said something that made sense, he said “he said like 80% of people work for the government, either direct or indirect, they are not pro Regime but they need jobs, so when they hit a building, allot of people die” The Kurdish areas were hit the hardest because its on the border and closest point to Isreal and US bases, there are more checkpoints because they are worried there will be an uprising But if my HARDCORE Kurdish anti Iran friend is pissed off how the US and Isreal are going about this war, imagine the people that are less hardcore I asked him how people are thinking he said ‘the government has been telling everyone how bad America and Isreal is for decades, now they are saying “i told you so” and people are believing it, the Iranian government if they live through this will have more support than ever, because living with a government you don’t like that leaves you alone if your don’t stand against them is better than living in fear of bombs and death’ I honestly don’t know how i feel about this, on one side i want full Kurdish rights in Iran on the other…i’m living under drones myself and am VERY against how the US and Isreal went about this war….

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.
