@jwbensley you make some fair points but that does sound better than 20 years and now not a single entity of any market cap can’t see past 18 months or six financial quarters. This isn’t how infrastructure improves. But these researchers…they aren’t just writing it they are DOING it.

@jta Considering that the logs are delivered to s3 itself, you'd have to have very loose coupling, and therefore you can't put a lot of very strong guarantees on it.

@woodyatpch @PCHglobal Perhaps you are referring to a former colleague of mine? 😅 I moved on from fastly in early 2018, but there were many, many others involved in that effort.

For those who don’t know, @jta was doing important work on global content networks like @PCHglobal long before Cloudflare existed. Bullshit claims of patentability in the face of decades of prior art just to pull the wool over clueless investors eyes hurt real innovation.

Reviewer #2 rejected a paper with the comment “Unrealistic problems. Unrealistic solutions.” for something running in production at a global scale for 2 years.

@jgrahamc @dwragg Intentional or otherwise, citing Beamer as an allusion to "the Faild approach" erases the contributions of the countless people who made such an approach possible. The vendor lobbying to increase ECMP nexthop limits. The community outreach with NANOG and IETF. It all adds up.

This article should have cited usenix.org/conference/nsd… or fastly.com/blog/building-…. I get why it doesn't, but not citing work due to affiliation harms authors, not competitors. My green card application was rejected due to lack of industry impact. Guess how USCIS determines that?
