It’s an honor to see @fastly up here today. This is a celebration of the collective success of our global community and customers -- and it’s only the beginning. #FSLY

@SOJewell Thank you 🙏 Technically I think they are carpenter pants, way more pockets that cargo pants. And yes forgot the lesson that if both your hands are on the tool you and cut yourself.

@crucially loved your talk yesterday. I sat in the front row and smiled :-) appreciated the Festool cargo-trousers (pants?) and also wondered about the plasters (band aids?) on your fingers- a Festool accident?

Our systems remain 100% operational while sustaining over 20,000 requests per second with over 1MM users per hour. Without the support of @fastly, we would not be able to serve our community during this tragic time. Thank you.
Fastly@fastly

Huge kudos to @watchdutyapp, a Fast Forward member, for their incredible work supporting those affected by the devastating LA fires. Their rapid response have been a lifeline to the community. Proud to see their impact & grateful for their dedication! 🙌 gizmodo.com/watch-duty-hit…

tech challenge time. Imagine you can’t use AWS or Cloudflare. You need a CDN, WAF with rate limiting and want it to be reasonably priced. Bonus points if they’re SOC 2 etc. Who are you using?

Thousands of Ruby companies became Go companies in the last 10 years. We never expected Go to be relevant to the Ruby community but type safety matters to many medium to large projects and the way to get that is to stop using Ruby -- an incredibly expensive choice.
DHH@dhh

TypeScript sucked out much of the joy I had writing JavaScript. I’m forever grateful that @yukihiro_matz didn’t succumb to the pressure of adding similar type hints to Ruby. May we forever enjoy this beloved language without 🙏 zverok.space/blog/2023-05-0…

@JohnONolan @remkusdevries @fastly @Ghost Had the exact same experience going through their sales process. CF wanted to sell me things I didn't want and avoid technical side, Fastly got right to the point. (We ended up sticking with CloudFront ultimately though.)

In the last 6 months traffic to Ghost(Pro) sites has more than doubled to well over 200million requests per month across ~10k sites. SysAdmins: 1 Support staff: 1 VC: $0 Code: Open Source Don’t let anyone try to convince you that you can’t do big things with limited resources.

@crucially I still remember our first "bill" was for like $5, quite a bit more than that now!

@izs It also makes bootstrapping a cache server really fast since all the packages are locally available ;)

@izs One example is that browsers retry requests a ridiculous amour of times, papering over transient network errors but at the cost of latency. Automated package managers are significantly stingier on the retries and thus expose transient errors at once. Helps improve the network.

Not many people know or remember this, but without @fastly generously offering free service to the npm registry at the end of 2013 through early 2014 when we got funding, the service probably would have died.

I grew up in the open source world, I learned a lot by contributing to open source and of course Fastly was built on open source! So it makes me very happy to be able to keep supporting these fundamental projects that help make the internet a better place.

I'm glad to see our friends at @fastly make their support of open source even more prominent: fastly.com/fast-forward - the curl project has been the beneficiary of their support for many years now. And we love it.

@triblondon @crucially @fastly @Akamai @Cloudflare @cloudfront That is very informative. We are looking forward to find a general solution for the FOS "Symfony HttpCache" and such a standard like "CDN-Cache-Control" would be awesome. The "Surrogate-Control" is also in discussion but could not yet found out who is supporting that.

It is pretty safe to say that without his encouragement, help, and advice @fastly would not have happened. Eternally grateful for everything you did. RIP Dan — you were a true friend and you will always be missed <3 #dankam
