Saylor's "never sell" narrative just cracked for the first time — and it cracked exactly when BTC fell below his cost basis and mNAV compressed toward 1. This is a directional signal, not noise. Between May 26–31, Strategy (MSTR) disclosed its first-ever net sale of 32 BTC (~$2.5M), used to fund the dividend on its STRC preferred stock. The size is trivial — just 0.004% of its holdings — so most analysts shrugged: "immaterial." But the real signal is in the timing + the reason: 1️⃣ The first sale ever was to pay a dividend, not to rebalance — a cash-flow gap had to be plugged with the core asset. For the first time, a gear in the flywheel turned backwards. 2️⃣ It sold below cost basis — Strategy's average cost is ~$75,699/BTC, and BTC has now slid to ~$67k–69k. The treasury is underwater on paper. 3️⃣ mNAV has compressed to ~1 (basic mNAV ~0.77) — below 1, the company can no longer issue equity at a premium to buy more BTC; the financing flywheel stalls. Yet the preferred dividends still have to be paid in cash. Where does it come from? More debt, or… selling BTC. 4️⃣ Index-removal risk is heating up — MSTR narrowly survived the Nasdaq-100 reshuffle (Dec 2025) and dodged MSCI exclusion (Jan 2026), but both were close calls. The Nasdaq-100 is market-cap weighted; with the stock now cut down and its market cap shrinking, another leg lower could see it dropped at the December 2026 annual reconstitution. MSCI has also frozen index exposure for these "digital-asset treasury" firms and opened a broader consultation on non-operating companies — the overhang hasn't gone away. If MSTR falls out of the Nasdaq-100, QQQ and other passive funds are forced to sell — another reflexive leg down. Connect the dots: BTC drops → mNAV breaks below 1 → equity issuance stalls → cash pressure → forced BTC sales → more downside → (if dropped from the Nasdaq-100) passive-fund selling piles on. MSTR is a high-beta proxy for BTC and tends to fall harder on the way down. The directional take: near-term, MSTR's risk/reward skews to the downside, and this "symbolic" sale is an inflection-point signal to respect. But the bulls will say: it's only 0.004%, Saylor has always run liquidity flexibly, this is noise — every dip is a gift. 👉 Which side are you on? @Absoluto92 My understanding is rewards will be distributed after Round 1 ends, not when the $150M volume is reached. The $150M threshold is just the condition to unlock Round 2's prize pool. Round 1 itself still runs its full duration.
