@ACJSissons In the world of energy, the Feed in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive are both index linked. Although these are a 'per kWh' subsidy rather than an up front payment towards the captial cost.

Question: when you have a subsidy for consumers (e.g., for a heat pump), would you ideally uprate it by inflation each year or keep it fixed in nominal terms? Are there any examples of inflation-linked subsidies?

@JRDSills Plenty of options to sell AD 'bit by it' but unfortunately not wind or PV. Even if you end up fixing at a relative low remind yourself that its way more than you ever expected when you built it.

In last few days I’ve heard of 64, 72 & today >80p/kWh, ie up to 400% price hike for new power contracts from sub-20p. Short term may even mean switching to diesel? @kWhTim says ~30p/kWh to run - if you have a genny… #Potatostorage economics all out of the window. #Unsustainable

My reading of it is that red diesel used in a generator to store potatoes (an agricultural activity) is still OK. But best if you read and make your own mind up as I haven't checked this with HMRC.

Any storage potato growers looked at going off grid and running stores on generators to avoid this shit show of electric prices? We are going to be looking at going from 2k a month bills inc solar to 8 to 10k that is a lot of red diesel even at £1 a litre that could be bought.
