Hi football community. I need your help! I’m in the process of working on my thesis (valuing movement off the ball and space generation to predict goal probability in football) and really need season’s worth tracking data. I’ve tried everything. Any help appreciated.

@RWhittall Here there's an increase in hospitalizations but not ICU or deaths, so it could still strain the health care system (that can also be true with a bad flu season though).

@RWhittall Portugal has no significant rise in fatalities and ICU patients even with omicron bringing case counts to record levels. That's all due to >90% vaccination levels. If it holds it's pretty much the end game, no justification for restrictive measures in the future.

Using @StatsBomb's 360 data for Portugal vs Germany at the Euro, I plotted every pass made to Gosens in the final third. Yet another way of seeing the shocking amount of space given to him. And yes, I'm still having nightmares about that match...

@markrstats @StatsBomb Also, the relative positioning is more important than the absolute. I was debating changing the end also, particularly for short passes. That would probably make sense.

@lastrowview @StatsBomb Yeah, I did the same. I compared dozens of SB freeze frames against tele broadcasts taken from Youtube and concluded that data on a frame always more accurate that a manual input from operator

@markrstats @StatsBomb Yes, I did. I was unsure about how to deal with that, and felt this way was more informative (particularly for an animation). Not sure what it means about the data though (I assume it's just the result of different measurement errors).

@cityzenforlife @EiFSoccer I can understand why (most teams are God awful), but I agree. The top 4 are usually interesting and plenty of great players come through them, that alone should warrant some attention.

@lastrowview @EiFSoccer No one watches Liga Nos sadly. That was a remarkable title last season and they're actually competing in the UCL for once.

Seeing Ole try to play 3 at the back just makes you admire the likes of Tuchel and Conte that much more. It’s worlds apart. People mention how easy it is to defend with 3 atb, but you can see how that’s just not the case when you have someone as incompetent as Ole employ it.
