@miles_was_her Use your support system, and let yourself feel what you need to feel. On a personal note, my FIL passed away 2 weeks ago. He was the first to accept me, so it hurt. The poem "do not weep for me" helped somehow.

@miles_was_her For me, i think about grief is like you are shipwrecked in a storm, holding onto a piece of driftwood. As you get further and further away from the storm,you will still have waves of sadness, but they will be more manageable.

@ElonGate_2022 The point of this thread is that Christians who affirm gay Christians do not believe that a man marrying a man is going to go to hell for it. Assuming that Christians do believe that and are lying around it is the arrogant point.

In all honesty, the thing I find particularly gross about statements like this is the background assumption I heard my whole life of “if these Christians loved you, they’d tell you the truth about x.” Because it never happens that Christians from a place of humility, prayer,

When I was in sixth grade I was abused by a counselor at an SBC-run retreat center. That's not easy to share. I feel a part of my soul shrinking away from the computer screen as I type it. But right now the SBC is deciding how much stories like mine matter. See Robert's post:
