Alberta New Democrats turned once-in-a-generation circumstances into a term in Government. Basically everything they’ve done since has shown a real commitment to ensuring that their time in Government remains a once-in-generation thing of the past.

@NeilOberman There’s no hypocrisy. You said he didn’t mention taxes as a reason for the differential. He quite literally *did* mention taxes as a reason for the differential. This is not a new phenomenon.

You seem keenly interested in disregarding context and hyprocrisy. Let's fix that with our own pen shall we? You see - if one country raises it's taxes on something and the other doesn't raise on the same thing, that increases the gap. I know - very hard for a liberal to understand the concept. But one can only hope.

The "T word" seems to be missing here. "Taxes". Gas taxes in Canada are about twice the amount per litre versus the U.S. By the way, once upon a time in Canada, $100 or more for a barrel of oil would raise our currency to about par. Look at now by comparison.

Hi Pierre, Gas in Canada has been higher priced than gas in the U.S. my entire life - for lots of reasons including market size, economies of scale and, yes, taxes. But it has nothing to do with any recent tax changes. In fact, a gap of 18% would be among the lowest on record.
