Mill customers pay $33 a month to have their pulverized food scraps picked up. Now Mill is closer than ever to selling those scraps as chicken feed trib.al/DfKxAKU

@KyleCherrick That's why Mill exists. So instead of trashing food, it's put to good use (we're working to turn it into food for chickens!)
English

@KyleCherrick For our planet, while composting is awesome, less than 4% of our homes' wasted food is composted (EPA) and less than 5% of U.S. homes have muni curbside composting (BioCycle). Making food the #1 thing you'll find in landfills (EPA).

Any of my #Climate tweeps out there using the @mill #composting system in their kitchen.
I’m intrigued by the product, but since I don’t have chickens I’m struggling with the value prop of $33/month subscription indefinitely so I can mail them my compost (other than planet help).

Day One: Keeping food out of our landfill and in our food system with @mill.
This bin takes my scraps and turns them into dried/compacted food grounds for several weeks without having to be emptied.
Not compost. Plan is to turn food grounds into chicken feed.
As more equitable organic diversion laws get passed, I hope devices like this will be available for all households…not just folks with some extra cash.

Has anyone actually received a @mill ? We ordered one in February… 4 months later not even a word from the company about delays. I had such high hopes. What’s it going on here?

NEW: I spoke with Fridgely founder Justin Ehlert and @mill founder @MattLRogers to discuss how food waste is playing a huge part in the climate crisis and how their two companies are working to mitigate food waste at home.

@LisbethKaufman Hi! We’re working through reservations as quickly as we can. I wish I could give you a detailed ETA, but it really depends on how many people ahead of you in line claim theirs first. We’ll be sending email updates with more detailed estimates when we have them.

"Grocery stores and restaurants are in the business of not wasting food...Looking at US data, about half of food waste and loss is from our homes. It's, unfortunately, a consumer problem because today we don't have another option." More from @MattLRogers on @Importantnotimp ⚡️

⚡ NEW EPISODE⚡ A third of all food in the US is wasted, and that food waste has a carbon footprint greater than the airline industry. Our guest this week, @MattLRogers, is looking to change that with his company, Mill - a membership to a food-shrinking, de-stinking trash can
