When I was in first grade, I had a classmate named Devyangi who was obsessed with me. I found her annoying. She told everyone that I was her boyfriend, always followed me around, and even joined the same tuition classes as me. Things went so far that one day she brought her parents to our house. Eventually, we moved out of Rajkot after my father got into a fight with his boss, who had an affair with one of his workers’ wives. Even local politicians got involved on both sides. His boss needed my father so much that he bought out every company my father joined. In the end, he ruined him by supporting multiple competing companies to break his monopoly in the market. This created a domino effect that damaged the Chinese watch market in India. And that’s the reason why I’m still single.

कितना आसान था ज़िंदगी को जी जाना। तुम्हारे पास आना,गले लगना,आँचल में धीरे से सिमट जाना। सिर पर हाथ रख जैसे कोई मंतर पढ़ देती और सब कुछ ठीक हो जाता। तुमसे लिपटकर तुमको सुनना,आँखें मूँदे शब्दों के कंपन को छूना,मेरे हृदय को लय देता। वो तुम्हारी महक,अब तक संग है और मैं ज़िंदा हूँ।

I find the idea of running a book club exciting. Sounds like something I'd love to do. But my reading habits are a little too chaotic and all over the place to even join one, let alone run one myself. 💔

When Radha calls, but Krishna doesn't answer. ‌ 'Bahu Manuratha'- written by Rituparno Ghosh ‌ It describes the pain Radha feels, when she goes near the banks of Yamuna, prepared to meet her love, Krishna- and waits all night, only to be disappointed, for he never shows up. ‌ ‌ The song is written in the language of 'Brajbuli' which is an amalgamation of Bengali, and Maithali, popularised in the 14th century, by the poet Vidyapati- who wrote, mostly on the love, separation and eternity of 'Radha-Krishna'.

This book is such an eye-opener. I'm about halfway through and I highly recommend it. Especially if you're an Indian.
