@mrkylefield Don't play golf in a lightning storm, even though we have lightning arrestor technology. Don't swim at the beach when there are sharks, even though we have shark cages. Don't tickle rattlesnakes, even though we have anti-venom. Immediate cheapest thing is to recognize limits.

@trentsizemore Yeah, I've heard that as well and would love to clarify exactly what they can see and when. Safety first.

@mrkylefield I believe the RAW photon count Tesla uses can see quite a bit better than humans in those conditions. I’m not sure how much better though.

@ogre_codes Biden's nhtsa under the Trump admin. If there are specific criticisms, let's address those and figure out a path forward.

@DaveMattson That's true, but leaving me stopped atop a snowy ridge in the middle of nowhere doesn't necessarily feel the safest as a passenger of a vehicle with no steering wheel. That's especially true when we do have sensors that can handle these scenarios safely.

@mrkylefield Path forward - accurate detection by the self driving system that conditions are unsafe to drive, and then it safely stops the vehicle from driving. This can be done with a vision only system.

@ogre_codes I agree it might be political, but I'm also not okay writing off an entire org without proof. Ideally, the goal is to make sure it's safe. Deep probes --whether internal or govt -- like this are how issues are exposed and resolutions come around.

@mrkylefield Isn't that the goal here though? NHTSA is still likely very dominated by Biden appointees. Hell much of the administration has political motivations.

@rebel1996 @spyderms @DavidMoss Those losses don't tell us if the vehicles are profitable or not All the US auto brands canceled their EVs and announced massive write downs on their EV businesses. It became an acceptable time to announce large losses so everybody wrote down everything they could.

@mrkylefield @spyderms @DavidMoss They are losing billions on them unfortunately And you should test drive a RST or something other than the WT3 you likely rented, to cleanse the pallet.

Do you think this will be the next EV to get canceled? Just spotted this Chevy Silverado EV backing up for a charge while I was leaving Kuttawa, KY on my way to Chattanooga Also Tesla did a great thing by opening up their supercharging network!
