As a former whistleblower, I know the #Swalwell playbook all too well. How did it go on so long? At @MSNOWNews I write that the culture in both parties too often enables powerful predators while cowing those around them into silence. That must change. ms.now/opinion/eric-s…

Crazy story out of Qatar: A British couple honeymooned in Doha, where the wife was harassed at the Ritz-Carlton pool by two men who told her she'd "fall in love" after he slept with her. The hotel gaslit her, with management denying the CCTV backed her story despite their own WhatsApp messages saying the opposite. Her husband posted a TripAdvisor review calling the hotel "unsafe for women." The hotel got it pulled, then a hotel employee filed a defamation complaint against him under Qatar's cybercrime laws. Nearly a year later, when he returned to Qatar for work, he was detained, informed he'd been tried in absentia and fined, and then held for four nights in a deportation centre. The deportation order lasts five years, which severely hurts his career as a Middle East healthcare consultant. In other words, Marriott International, an American company, used Qatari law to silence a complaint about a woman being sexually harassed at their property.

A must read op/ed from my colleague @naomiseligman & friend—herself a whistleblower— whose experience happens far too often. Swalwell resigned. But Congress' troubling culture remains. Eric Swalwell resigned. But Congress' troubling culture remains. ms.now/opinion/eric-s…

NEW: The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says the alleged rape of Lonna Drewes by Eric Swalwell took place in July 2018 in the 900 block of Hammond Street. This comes back to the Montrose Hotel. Campaign finance expert @rpyers has flagged a travel expense from Swalwell’s campaign at the time, with FEC records showing “Swalwell for Congress” spent $361 in travel expenses at the Montrose Hotel on July 18th, 2018. H/T to Rob for the find.

A woman named Lonna Drewes at a news conference just now accused Eric Swalwell of drugging her drink and sexually assaulting her. Here's part of her statement.

Correct. And not just in Congress, where I worked for years (harassment was rampant), but also in City Halls. In LA, the "anonymous" #MeToo hotline was under the mayor's auspices & after the first complaint top brass told the comms director to figure out who had made it...

Back in 2021, I did an investigative series for Business Insider about toxic workplace culture and bad bosses in Congress. People rightly question why allegations take years to surface. But staffers told me they have no safe reporting mechanism, and speaking out ends careers

I am sick and tired of men in positions of power getting away with sexual harassment, assault and abuse. Representatives Gonzales and Swalwell should resign. Otherwise, I would vote to expel them.

I am going to say this very slowly, it’s coming out that Eric Swalwell would discuss his conquests to fellow House members and former house members that he considered “good friends, best friends”, now here is why me saying this slowly matters, think long and hard before you deny it. Thanks.

I’ve covered Eric Swawell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council. Shortly after being elected to Congress in 2013, his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party.

If you think multiple women coming forward with credible accusations of sexual assault and rape is “political,” and not a product of the long history of men using their power and influence to attack women — then congratulations — you are part of why women are not safe.

@yashar Exactly. Enablers should also be held to account for their knowledge and inaction around Swalwell’s abuse.

Three Instagram DM’s going back to 10/31/2020 regarding Eric Swalwell, I blacked out some names so they don’t get lit up. These DM’s (I am in purple) is NOT enough for a reporter to write a story, but enough for me to tweet about him like I did in late 2025. But me saying he’s a bad dude, umm just doesn’t carry the weight, no one normal private citizens tweet would unless it’s an actual victim. Til they are ready to speak, only then will a story get the mass readership yesterdays press did, not me shouting from the Twitter rooftops.

I have spent my entire career reporting on sexual misconduct by politicians. The barrier to publication anywhere with good lawyers is very, very high. Getting women to speak and share personal records and acquire corroboration from friends and colleagues is extremely difficult.

This is why women (and men) stay silent about what they have witnessed, experienced -- and endured. I have seen it too many times. Meanwhile the perpetrators -- and their enablers -- claim to support gender equity, "zero tolerance" and allegiance to their supposed values.

Whistleblower Aid
Whistleblower Aid@wbaidlaw·
An ICE lawyer turned whistleblower is raising the alarm over the deployment of ICE to fill in for TSA airport security officers who are unpaid and quitting as a partial government shutdown drags on. The move "forces the public to submit to a criminal checkpoint system if they wish to exercise their freedom of travel. At best, this forces Americans to accept the same kind of checkpoint systems once used in the Soviet Union and East Germany. At worst, it could result in a violent confrontation between a tired traveler and an inexperienced agent," Whistleblower Aid client Ryan Schwank said in a statement.
