@Hakaris_Intern @ottrTweets From what I've seen with this post and others, the community seems very split. Others like it others hate it. I think the melee damage is too much as I think melee should be your backup not your primary go to. But others seem very adamant that it is a good equalizer.

@Hakaris_Intern @ottrTweets You can upgrade your melee damage in the Arachne skill tree, some shells have a higher melee stat than others. But with that, your melee can be 80 which in turns makes your heavy melee do this much.

@oPerplexApple @ottrTweets I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure with base melee damage you can’t two tap with a knife unless you’ve upgraded your melee damage and have implants so they couldn’t have been running a free kit to do that much damage

@personalhimbo Health values are 120 gold/purple shield is 80. I believe a knife shouldn't do 100 damage. But that's that.

guys there is a reason the shield bar is smaller than the normal health bar.

@NotJosh_G @DeezyEight @ottrTweets All I have seen from my comment is that I'm wrong, that's great cause clearly I had a misunderstanding. But invis will always annoy me in fps games as visual information is ever so important.

@NotJosh_G @DeezyEight @ottrTweets In all honesty, my thoughts of free kits are not for pvp side of things but a cheap kit to gather resources. So your next runs can be well "geared" I find it unengaging to fight white shields in my lobbies, I find it unengaging to get knifed by invisible players.

@nikkelul @ChrisBtw___ @DeezyEight @ottrTweets Maybe you're right, it's mostly something that irks me the most, but there's also very little information you can get against invis characters. I still strongly think that melee shouldn't kill as fast as it does. Snipers can be countered with bubble shields, safe res and so on

@JohnTitorVT Ottr's clip doesn't showcase this correctly. His spot and where he was allowed for a very obvious flank, but most times when I have died to this playstyle it is because I deadass cannot see a player who freddy fazbeared jumscared me.

@JohnTitorVT With how potent it is, allows for playstyles that grant no risk, when there is gearfear and the ability to have no risk and be EXTREMELY effective in most situations. Your gear instantly loses its value as you cannot counter play. Especially in solo's.

I do not mean this in a condescending way whatsoever but in like 300-ish hrs of total gameplay, I can count on one hand the number of times an assassin has gotten this much of a drop on my team when running full kit like this. Double heavy knife probably needs a slight nerf vs full hp gold shield, and I'm aware Ottr had an audio issue he's since resolved, but tbh this was really preventable. Couple things to note • This might be destiny/bungie game bias in me but double melee kill has been a thing in bungie games since like halo 3 (arguably halo 2 but that's conditional). It has always been a deliberate design choice in their shooters to make closing the gap like this heavily rewarding for the prepared melee attacker. • Doing this much knife damage often requires setup and sacrificing other useful stats, if he's running crowd control and max melee it's entirely possible he procced it on the first down (iirc it works on runner down but it might need full kill) and then it makes more sense that the second time round that gold shield gets melted • This is one of the most exposed spots on ANY map in the game, there's literally a graffiti tag that says "YOU ARE NOT SAFE HERE" on the wall near it. Snipes are loud, everyone is aware of where you are and you have very few ways to defend yourself from a rushing flank of any kind unless you can rapidly drop down or carry a bubble. • Bully/M77/any snipe on a good angle kill you at comparable speed here and with less risk to the assassin running up on you getting noticed and turned on. Obviously they need to hit their shots but that's the trade-off, knife is deadly but only if you can actually get in. • If you're running a mid/long rang loadout like this a few clays or prox sensors at your back help with awareness immensely, obviously you won't always have them but just something to consider. You're making a ton of noise in a nearly indefensible part of the map, people WILL rush it. • It's a risk and VERY hard but you can absolutely turn that and no-scope the assassin, don't know if I'd have the time to react and pull it off with 15 tries myself though.

@CerbersEnjoyer @DeezyEight @ottrTweets I needed to be more clear, it's the solo experience that makes it awful. It's naturally more ratty and when invis is in the mix it's the most tilting experience to die with no outplay potential. If I lose a gunfight that's fine.

@nikkelul @ChrisBtw___ @DeezyEight @ottrTweets Also, I don't care about losing to a free kit, I care when there is no outplay potential, if someone out guns me - they deserve it, but if I die to someone who is invis and using a knife there is nothing I can do, it's bad design. Melee damage increase should affect ai not player

@oPerplexApple @ChrisBtw___ @DeezyEight @ottrTweets Free kits also used to farm faction XP. If you lose to free kit that's the beauty of the game. Everyone has a chance to get richer at others Denise. Maybe crybaby kitted players should load up with free kit more often for more challenge

But I can exfil 50 times and not come across anyone near the same gear value. As free kits are too accessible and safe
