Talks failed but history will remember the lengths Pakistan went to, to get it settled peacefully. We have punched miles above our weight & gave the world a glimmer of hope against all odds. We were the only avenue that gave hope to millions & millions of mothers & children who dreaded destruction. Proud of our diplomats. We know it’s a good news for a specific faction of anarchists in Pakistan but then again, until they get hold of affairs, let’s cherish what we did in the last two weeks for peace. Congratulations, Pakistan. And good luck to the world !!

Or maybe the US itself chose this negotiatior, because no country in the world was willing to step in this case We never heard the west or anyone else saying even a single word about ending the war, a humiliated US then nudged Pakistan to come forward to request for a ceasefire and talks, this is proved by what Shahbaz Sharif posted on X, they guided them to save face, showing that the world is requesting talks, when no one wants to be involved in this absurdity.

I think too many Indians on X want to see Pak looking bad after talks rather than seeing how Iran, for better or worse, has managed to fight the US to a point where the latter agreed to talk using a face saver mediator who will not mock the US for its failure to dominate.

Because Pakistan is simply the most well-positioned country to lead the talks due to its excellent relations with the US, Iran, China, and all the Gulf states. Then, Pakistan was mind-boggingly tenacious to get both the parties to declare ceasefire and sit together on the table in the first place for its own reasons. Last, multiple US intelligence reports have concluded that Pak was unaware of OBL’s presence in Abbottabad. If Pakistan was really hiding OBL, wouldn’t the Americans have isolated and sanctioned the country but they didn’t because Pakistan wasn’t

Genuine question: Why couldn’t the US/Iran negotiation happen in Turkey or even in China? Bin Laden was literally living right next to an army base in Pakistan. Why is the US giving Pakistan a platform?

@pavan666 @BenGeskin and that’s exactly the major sacrifice at the moment. This device uses new hinge technology to try and flatten the crease and Apple will be doing something along those lines as well, so it’ll def be interesting to see if and how they solve the problem

@MetalBlakedowns @BenGeskin Of course, it depends on the use case. Each use case is different. One gentleman here mentioned that instead of carrying 2 devices - phone and a tablet, phablet did the job for them.

@MetalBlakedowns @BenGeskin Hmmm. They need to do something about that crease. There are rumours about apple releasing their fold version. Would be interesting to see how they deal with the 'crease' situation. I like one handed compact phones and not the phablet version. /1

If Pakistan wants to mediate this in good faith, they need to act like it. Israel is America’s closest ally in the Middle East, and they will be after this war — regardless of what happens to Iran.
Ambassador Yechiel (Michael) Leiter@yechielleiter

The Ayatollahs chanted “Death to Israel” - and now a so-called “mediator” is echoing the same language. You are not a mediator Mr. Asif, you are the problem. Even if it is to your dismay, Israel is here to stay. That’s not for negotiation.

India has reportedly decided that, in the next war with Pakistan, it would suspend or disconnect all secure communication hotlines used by its top leadership to engage with foreign counterparts. The objective of this move would be to limit external mediation effort particularly from countries such as the USA & Saudi Arabia that might push for a ceasefire. As part of this approach, mid-level officials would give an excuse to these countries that senior leadership has been relocated to secure, undisclosed locations and is therefore unavailable for direct communication, citing security considerations as the official excuse.

@pavan666 @BenGeskin I agree, eventually something will come along that will replace the smartphone, I just don't think we are close to that transition yet. I hated carrying an iPhone and an iPad mini around with me. The Fold 7 replaced those two things and it fits in my pocket.

Dear India, While you boast about becoming the fourth-largest economy, South Asia is on the verge of becoming one of the poorest regions in the world, largely because you are unable to resolve even basic issues with Pakistan. Your career diplomats sit at mediation meetings and begin by labeling Pakistan a terrorist nation, next time, try starting with “good morning.” Not that we care, but your actions are impacting the entire region, which is on its way to becoming the poorest in the world. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, South Asian Countries
