It's interesting to see that The Athletic doesn't have anyone covering the Calgary #Flames full time this season. Calgary is the only Canadian market that doesn't have a full timer person covering the team for that publication.

The #Flames' return for Lindholm is enough to make me think he'll be with the #Canucks longer than a rental. Will he be placed with a Johnny-type playmaker that'll let him snipe away?

@wincolumnCGY Many say to follow the Stars blueprint and this duo is treated as Benn/Seguin. In my more cynical moods, I think Parise/Suter is the better blueprint.

@Kent_Wilson The next epoch could be Wolf, coming on strong in +/-5yrs (no pressure haha). Flames’ job should be to build a roster for that moment.

The thing the org faces now is there are no epochal talents here. You don't build an epoch around a 30-year-old Huberdeau. A good chunk of the surrounding cast are either pending UFAs in a few years, or 30+ (or both).

Re: the Flames situation. There has never been a clearer, more obvious opportunity to pro-actively kick of a rebuild.
