Never imagined I would one day see myself on the big screen. It was truly special to attend a special screening of an upcoming NET documentary and witness such a powerful story come to life. A huge credit to Rain Bennett for crafting such a deeply moving narrative. The film beautifully captures the courage of NET patients and caregivers and thoughtfully portrays the often unseen, treacherous journey that cancer brings—not just for those diagnosed, but for the families who walk every step alongside them. I walked out of the screening with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm—to keep pushing the science forward, continue working on meaningful research, and help bring our NET community even closer together. Side gigs. Inevitable for 98% of those in entertainment at some point. My advice? Don’t choose something that requires you to promote yourself as that all the time. In a weird way, in the eyes of others, we are whatever we put out there. If your entire online identity is the side gig, that’s who you are to the people you’re hoping to attract. You’re not an actor or writer, you’re a coach or a personal trainer. Which are fine jobs, but just be careful about how you’re presenting yourself. Over time people forget what it is you really do.

35 years ago today I fell in love with movies. I will never forget it the way it made me feel. I can still recite the entire "that's why I play right field..." Pizza Hut commercial that played before the VHS, which I watched 500 times. To this day it's a Top 5 comic book movie. #TMNT

@rainbennett @LukeBarnett Thanks Rain! Yeah, fortunately we just lost power for a few days. No damage outside of tree limbs. But man, some people were hit really hard.

I’ll never forget being quoted nearly half the budget of our short for a permit to shoot on our friend’s private property. Needless to say, we stole the shots.

@LukeBarnett I’ve been kicked out gorilla shooting in LA before. Now we just shot in the mountains of North Carolina. Zero permits. Several private property owners let us use their land for free. Two of them are historical societies. It’s night and day.

Watching the Best Original Screenplay award while writing the feature version of The Crossing Over Express and it’s maybe the most inspiring yet cliche thing to ever happen to me. Anyway, bookmarking this for when I’m there in 2027.

Yes, but this fails the "don't structure my life around it", I try to not eat breakfast because it makes me sharper in the mornings. Then I'm often traveling for work or just have 10 hours straight of meetings/deep work. The answer might just be "you can't hit that goal without any structuring."
