I’ve never seen such a disconnect between the commentary on this site and what I hear in the real world. I’ve talked to dozens of normal conservatives in real life about the Iran War and I haven’t met a single one who’s actually enthusiastically in favor of it. At best they’re warily optimistic. In most cases they’re opposed. In some cases they’re not only opposed but deeply furious. And yet here if you utter a word of criticism about the war you’ll be shouted down by throngs of alleged American conservatives who allegedly have wanted nothing more than for America to go to war with Iran. It just doesn’t reflect what I see on the ground. That’s not just cope because my position is unpopular with “my side.” I’ve held plenty of unpopular positions. I really don’t care. But in this case the social media vs real world divide is stark and unlike anything I’ve seen before.

I’ve been digging into the Massie/Gallrein race, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it comes down to whether or not you want a “yes man”. Gallrein says he will be a team player and will vote with his Republican colleagues to support the Trump agenda. Some people believe that’s what is needed in Washington. But what happens when Trump flips on his own agenda? What happens if he changes teams? Whether it’s his support for giving pesticide manufacturers immunity or advocating for data centers to have free reign, at some point Ed will need to decide if he is just a “warm body” to push a yes button, or will he defend his constituents when the President goes astray. When I hear Ed Gallrein talk about his unquestioning loyalty to Trump, it shows what he will do. He will be a “yes man” in every way he’s expected to be. You, as a voter, need to decide if that’s who you truly want in Washington. If you do, I can respect that. But I don’t want “yes men” or “yes women”. I want Representatives who challenge the political machine when it threatens the People. I want people like MGT, Boebert, and Mace. I want Representatives like TJ Roberts who literally sued the Governor. I want Representatives like Savannah Maddox and Felicia Rabourn who never stop fighting for our rights. I want Senators like Steven Rawlings who fights to protect religious liberty. I want Senators like Senator Lindsey Tichenor who fights to protect kids and fights for Open Government. (Perhaps these amazing men and women should run for Congress. 😉) Think about the impact we could have if we added MORE Massie’s in Congress, not less. We need more than just a “warm body”. We need people who actually read the bills, who call out bad legislation, who fight for our Constitutional rights, and who are not afraid to go against the grain. Ed seems like a nice guy, but we already have enough “Yes men” in Congress. Let’s keep Congressman Thomas Massie, and elect more people like him.
