When you don’t have children, it’s truly impossible to understand what it feels like to have children, it’s hard to understand the deep desire to give everything in us to a small little child the second you know of their existence, but trust me when I say that if you live your life out planning to be a parent, planning on having children you will never regret it. We now spend our lives planning for ourselves, planning for our needs and wants, living life in a self ordained fashion, but this has led to many problems. We aren’t planning on living on one income anymore We aren’t planning on staying home with our children We aren’t planning on uncommon sources of income so that we may stay home or work from home Much of our adult plans don’t start with the assumption or framing that children will come, and when they do come we are surprised, we are shocked at how much our world stops revolving around ourselves. So if I can leave you with one thing, it is this, plan your life around your children, even before you have them.

@michaeljknowles My parents pushed me to seek career and independence. They never once tried to instill marriage as something to covet. Though they constantly nagged me about dating, they never taught me to date with the intent of finding a husband

It's not so much that Millennial and Gen X women consciously choose careers over marriage. It's that the choices they make (and are encouraged to make) make marriage less likely. Case in point: moving to D.C., where the men are sociopaths or homosexuals or both.
Beverly Hallberg@BeverlyHallberg

I’m 46 and have worked in DC for 26 years. During that time, I’ve met and befriended many women in high-level careers. Not one has ever told me she chose her career over marriage. In fact, all of them were trying to find a husband. The idea that Millennial or Gen X women broadly chose careers over marriage—at least anecdotally—just isn’t true.

> Netflix raised prices > Disney+ raised prices > HBO Max raised prices > Amazon just removed 4K from standard plan > YouTube Premium now $15.99/month > Family plan hit $26.99 > Average American spends ~$828/year on streaming We are paying MORE, getting LESS, and watching ads anyway. They didn't kill cable. They became it.

This is what I think of when I hear the name ‘Minnesota’. I think I speak for all ex-Minnesotans when I say that we do not want Wisconsin to become what we fled. That’s why I’m putting my all into electing @TomTiffanyWI Governor this year. This is our last chance to save WI.

It used to be that marriage was the starting point. Two people came together with almost nothing but each other, and they built everything side by side: careers, homes, families, dreams. The process of building wasn’t just something practical, it was bonding. It forged loyalty. It required sacrifice. It taught interdependence. Today, we’re told to have it all before we marry. A stable career. A house. A good savings account. independence. But by the time two people finally come together, they’ve spent years learning how to do life alone, how to protect themselves, prioritize themselves, rely only on themselves, and somehow we wonder why it’s so hard to build a life with someone? Marriage is no longer a beginning. It’s an accessory to an already-built life, but two self-contained, self-sufficient lives do not easily merge. There is no “ours”, now there is only “yours” and “mine.” Individualism didn’t just redefine marriage. Individualism is its death.

US fertility reached 1.57 last year, the lowest ever recorded, and the WSJ explanation is "uncertainty about finances, relationship stability, and the political climate" my great grandma had eleven children during the second world war, in a country being bombed, in a house with no running water, on rations. poor people have always had kids. the poorest people on earth right now still have kids and the financial excuse is a story we tell ourselves because it makes us feel good and the real one is unbearable the real mechanism is that we got rich enough to redefine children as an expense instead of the point. somewhere in the last fifty years the cultural goal inverted and a child stopped being what life is for and became a line item competing with the lifestyle. once you frame it that way the math never works, because the math isnt supposed to work. that's the point we are living in the richest moment in human history and we decided to use the surplus to buy ourselves out of the future. the most prosperous civilization that has ever existed is committing demographic suicide at the altar of personal optimization and comfort, and the official line is that we cant afford it the birthrate is a lagging indicator of a civilization that forgot why it was alive

i feel like ppl without kids have the wrong idea about what parents mean when they say it’s hard. the hard part is that you have to do it every single day, but none of the tasks themselves are at all difficult, especially once you’re past the newborn stage. i would always much rather do whatever baby task is at hand than unload the dishwasher or clear up after dinner or vacuum the living room. changing a baby’s diaper isn’t hard or even unpleasant, it’s just harder than lying on the couch scrolling my phone and you’re not allowed to procrastinate it. i’ve heard ppl be like “i just don’t know if i could do it!” dude, of course you could do it. you think billions of ppl have done it, usually multiple times, but somehow it’s gonna be too hard for you? the full on mentally retarded girl who i grew up with has 4 kids. i think you can handle it.

@RealityyQueenn2 I moved into a new home, with an infant...it is not for the weak! She is struggling and needs help, but i also think she might be resisting bc she wants to do it all herself. And so I can see why Danny said focus on whats important, and then made a dumb joke to lighten the mood.

I respectfully disagree. He knew she didn’t want to move there and kept pushing and pushing. He’s the only one happy in this moment, they have 4 kids under 5, they just moved, she’s definitely struggling with post partum and she’s asking for help. She’s driving 30-40 minutes each way with traffic to film.. I mean give her a break. Look around their house, she can’t even unpack. She definitely needs help #TheValley

You tried to paint me as a pervert for exposing fraud, and as a result radical leftists started trying to dox me and send death threats, wanting to kill me. Now you are taking credit for “leading the charge” on the fraud. Are you serious? You are the fraud.

Y’all can not sit here and tell me that that Ciara hiring a lawyer to go to court to bid on the home, creating a trust so they wouldn’t know it was her and going behind her families back to buy the house from them after admitting she hasn’t spoken to her father in 4 years while also saying her father said that he questions her motives is not weird? I’m sorry but that entire segment was weird. #SummerHouse

Maria Lazar is a nice person and a smart and competent judge. This is not an attack on her. This is about her campaign, which perhaps set a record for worst court loss ever. She lost to Taylor worse than Randy Koshnick lost to then-chief justice Shirley Abrahamson--and Randy barely even HAD a campaign, and was taking on hard attacks FROM the right. This is not exhaustive. It's just basic stuff we're not doing right. 1. The "rule of law" argument for "principled" justices is a failure. Stop using it. No one cares. People only care about outcomes now. What outcomes did she discuss? None. 2. She refused to be political in an election--which by its nature is political. 3. She refused to be a PARTISAN in an election. Elections demand partisanship. She needed to make the case bluntly that she was the conservative antidote to the leftist disease on the court. She never did. In fact, she did the opposite by claiming she wasn't a partisan. That does nothing to inspire base turnout. 4. She wasn't aggressive, never went on the attack--and was always on the defensive. 5. Her ads were weak. Her ad buys were light by comparison. Ads are the only workaround to the media bias (which has only gotten worse). 6. The statewide GOP infrastructure is a mess. There seems to be more infighting among right-partisans than coordinated efforts to create a sustainable GOTV and activist infrastructure that survives local party turnover. The GOP is not recruiting, training or raising money to create an army of permanent activists. 7. Spring elections are the Democrats' playground now. They have run the table since 2018. Low turnout advantages them because they can call out their native political constituencies to turn out the vote (teachers unions, etc) Either get rid of spring elections (move them all to fall) or figure out how to create our own native political constituencies that will always turn out. 8. Absentee balloting is killing us.

Wisconsin Right Now@wisconsin_now·
The AP has already called the Supreme Court race for Chris Taylor. Congratulations, Democrats. You just elected a woman who is wildly out of step with the values of most Wisconsinites. Congratulations, people who didn't get off your as*es to vote. You just handed away the court for a generation. Chris Taylor will not act like a justice. She will act like the Democrat legislator she once was, and she will use the court as a tool to enact radical legislation she couldn't get done then. She is "truly a whackjob," a former legislative colleague said. Great! Thank you Maria for giving it your best shot, for standing up and fighting. But don't mistake this for a canary in the mine for November and Tom Tiffany and Eric Toney, and don't let it demoralize you for those races. Different turnout game. April elections are very different from November elections in this state.
