This photo has a very personal meaning for me if you care to read it. I saw a photo from @johnkrausphotos on reddit nearly a decade ago of the engines on a Falcon Heavy launch. I was working at a tough sales job at the time. The shot inspired me to learn more about space and spaceflight. Shortly after, I bought my first telescope. I saw Jupiter, Saturn, and Nebulae, and started social media accounts where I shared my amateur photos. Then I was laid off, and Covid happened. Moved from Sacramento to Arizona for clearer skies, cheaper cost of living, and a chance to go all-in on space photography. My audience started to grow. Then, NASA contacted me, asking me if they could use some of my moon photos for something called Artemis. I said yes. During the Artemis I rollout my DMs blew up “Andrew- your photo is on the Mobile Launch Platform!”. Now I knew that astrophotography wasn’t enough… I should probably pay attention to spaceflight. I spent a lot coming out to the first launch attempt, which would be my first rocket launch if it flew. Sadly, it was a scrub. I came home from Florida, sharing my stories of touring the VAB and facilities with my grandfather, who worked on Apollo. He passed shortly after, which affected my ability to return to watch the SLS flew. Feeling bummed out, I focused back on my deep sky work, but then I started hearing about something called “Starship”. I caught a video from @Erdayastronaut where a rocket ship fell through the air belly-first and flipped upright and landed. Inspired, I knew I had to witness one of these machines fly, so I flew to Starbase the moment I could afford it, which was for the second fully integrated flight test. The moment Starship lifted off the pad, I was hooked. There was nothing quite like the experience. I did everything I could to catch every launch I could, and worked to become credentialed media to get better access. Last year I flew from Arizona to Florida & Texas over a dozen times specifically to sharpen my launch photography skills with our first human spaceflight to the moon in over 50 years looming. A decade of preparation for a split second moment. When I picked up my camera from the launch pad yesterday morning and peeked at what was captured, I knew it was all worth it. Thank you, NASA, Artemis, and the all people who inspired me along the way. This is still only the beginning.

I think we need to prepare for a distinct possibility on April 5th. Space twitter, this is very important for you all to read and understand, so you can explain to the laymen in the event that this actually occurs. In 1968, humans went to the moon for the first time ever, and they did it during Christmas. And, for the occasion, the Apollo 8 astronauts read a passage from the book of genesis. Fast forward to 2026, and Artemis II is flying a very similar mission, this time, during Easter. An equally, if not more important holy day to Christians all over the world. Now as many of you may know, Astronaut Victor Glover has been very vocal about his faith, and has brought a bible with him to the Moon. This means that there is a significant chance that a reading from the Bible occurs on Easter, in a similar vain to what Apollo 8 did on Christmas. Spitter, your job will be to remind people that this is NOT a political event, and is in fact, something that NASA astronauts have done before, the last time we went to the Moon. Wether this actually occurs, I can’t say, and I imagine it is rather unlikely, but I think that if it does, this will be an extremely publicized and unfortunately an extremely politicized event, and we need to be the rational voices explaining why it is happening. Thank you all for your attention to this matter.

@cryptovegan @AndySaunders_1 Notice that the modern picture has less contrast than the older one, where the earth was lit by the sun? That's a common side effect of high ISO photography. They're both beautiful shots, but were taken on cameras from different eras.

@cryptovegan @AndySaunders_1 See the rim light on the right? That's sunlight just barely peeking through. What is illuminating the earth? Reflected sunlight from the moon. Modern cameras can generate a good image with less light than film or older digital sensors, but the signal has to be boosted (high ISO).

@mcuban VA is similar, just look at OIG reports. Their supply chain employees also tend to be set in their ways.

Why aren’t any of these at risk hospitals publishing their full accounting so everyone can see where they spend their money ? All but one group of hospitals that I have looked at potentially investing in, spend so much on consultants and fees that it’s no wonder they are at risk Plus, I have NEVER seen an industry that is worse than hospitals when it comes to buying medications and items like implants, screws, other devices. They overpay for everything. And then when you show them how to save money, their “supply chain” employees resist any change. They are so set in their ways, it’s a shock more don’t go out of business. Prove me wrong.

@yuu_yuu_to An invasion of Japan would've been devastating to both sides and the US still would've won. I can't defend killing the innocent, because war is hell on earth, but sometimes it's necessary to avoid a worse fate. But yes, we do regret what happened and wish it hadn't been needed.

Hello and wonderful to meet you brother!! I would love to read your magazine sometime. But for your sake, there is something very important you must know. You do not want Americans to confuse your magazine with an American magazine called Christianity Today. It is a very bad magazine that pretends to be Christian, but runs articles trying to confuse Christians on what the Bible says on certain matters. Their editors and leadership work to get politicians elected who support abortion and homosexuality and other practices the Bible calls wicked. And even worse, they have taken over $1 million from a non-Christian foundation that is one of the biggest funders of abortion in our country. I would never want anyone to confuse your publication with that one!

My friends in America, in Japan, expressing patriotism is met with shunning. For example, if I put a Japanese flag sticker on my car, police officers will stop me for questioning. I only display the flag at my front door on Japanese holidays. Almost no one displays the flag at their home on weekdays. This is due to the past excessive claims made by the Japanese right wing, but don't you think it's natural to show patriotism to the country you were born in?

@SocialNomadRach That’s the point of screaming. They’re trying to make men look incompetent compulsively. As if nothing anyone can do is going to fix it and she needs compensation for seeing a violence. It sounds like an exaggeration but it’s not.

A woman screaming hysterically for no reason after her son subdued an intruder led to the son being shot dead. Understandably, the cops thought the intruder was attacking, not subdued, because of the unhinged screaming making a situation under control seem not to be.
