@Dynamic_Weeb I don’t think there was anything that implied Yura’s role in the story is done? Hokazono isn’t even done revealing Hishaku abilities and names

Re-reading The raid arc...Y'all might think this is crazy, but I prefer Yura between these two. Honestly will miss his character. Feels like he had so much more to offer then being a vessel for Akemura. I hope he somehow has a role to play in the story later on.

@Kremason7 people will see characters not be relevant to every arc and think the author forgot about them

funny how there were mfs who genuinely thought Hokazono forgot about Hiyuki and that she won't have that much importance to the plot later lol he sidelined her cuz she's way too op prolly one of the only few that can fight with Akemura

@paulodejesus801 Why? There aren’t other terms for other specifications. If you say “x isn’t consistent with y in this story” people would understand what you mean without it needing a specific term to describe it. The discussion itself is already specific enough to be useful

@s_multiple @ETCviperidae Make it more specific about what element in specific you are referring to in terms of consistency. "Narrative consistency" is an umbrella term (it can refer to plot, characterization, theme, etc.), so it helps to have a term to specify what you're referring to.

The thing is we already have words for that in writing, but powerscalers keep trying to retroactively make powerscaling synonymous with narrative consistency when most of the time, they never used it that way. They used it to battleboard or make "how strong is x really" videos.
Coren ✒🎨@CorenLaVolpe

The recent powerscaling conversation is interesting. From what I can gather the pro power scalers are basically just saying the being consistent about what your character is capable of doing and not having it flip flop for no reason is good. Which seems reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️

@anglereactor if I remember right, Owen mentioned on one of the post bannerfall steams that the creaking king stuff wasn’t planned from the beginning, so sausage was probably being honest then

@ETCviperidae You’ll critique using the specifics of the story that you’re critiquing, you don’t need a word for every aspect of a story that can be narratively inconsistent. The problem on the writer’s end is the same.

@s_multiple They did, its powerscaling. Its very useful because it describes a specific a type of verisimilitude. A story can have many other aspects of narrative consistency nailed but if the character fights are entirely abstract you'll just use that broad critique? Cmon.

so to clear things up for power scalers - generously, what you refer to as power scaling is what we call in literary analysis a ‘critical lens’. scalers look at works through the lens of comparing power levels and stakes for verisimilitude

@TheManOfTomorr It’s the comparing of in universe strengths done by powerscalers, it’s a way they analyze and engage with a story. If you don’t need to be a writer/creator to do it, it isn’t a fundamental aspect of storytelling

@s_multiple Powerscaling has never been specifically about how fans assess strength. Where did you get that from?

what you, as a powerscaler, are doing to determine the relative strength of characters via plot events and what the writer is doing when they write a character to explicitly be of a certain power level are fundamentally different things. explicitly different things. by definition

@TheManOfTomorr No, because power scaling is the way fans assess strength and the fans aren’t telling the story

@arakkosuperstar While fans and writers may not always assess character strength the same way, power scaling remains an important component of storytelling. You agree on that, right?

@LRelnam90450 it’s a pointless specification for a writer and makes no sense to consider as a fundamental aspect of creating a story, especially when action/fighting itself is something plenty of stories don’t include at all powerscaling is a thing readers do

Fandom Brain Content Enjoyers convinced themselves power scaling is inherent to “good writing”because they actually mean internal logical consistency. This is because they only interact with franchises as if lore, canon, and worldbuilding exist outside authorial intent

@LRelnam90450 Theres nothing uniquely different about consistency in one area of a story compared to any other part that needs its own specific categorization for a writer to consider separately. A fight outcome that makes sense but contradicts character motivation is still bad writing

@s_multiple You can break down the story into different elements and one of them is going to be consistency in the powerscale, such that the interactions are believable, it’s not all one thing jt can be separated down to it’s component parts

@LRelnam90450 what is any other aspect of internal logical consistency called? When making sure different pieces of lore make sense with each other or making sure the tone is consistent with the story? It’s all one thing. The reader is the one that measures

@ShawtyBrothers Whats it called when you have internal logical consistency when it comes to determining a characters strength? Surely they have to exist on some kind of scale where they can be measured against each other, right? Because if not then it wouldn’t be consistent

the reason this doesn’t work is because power-scaling isn’t a writing mechanic, it’s a form of analysis and engaging with a piece of media “power-scalers”, the people who do the actual power-scaling, are the readers not the author
Sheev Talks 🟢 || The Andor video arc@SheevTalks

@marauder_matt Unfortunately, power-scaling is about as fundamental a writing mechanic as things like plot and world-building (in most types of stories) so it’s kinda impossible to come to the conclusions you wanted me to

Guaranteed this is another example of the Paladins' arrogance. They think that because they have Momo powerless and in a bad situation and Jiji swallowed that the fight's done They don't know that they're dealing with the Strategy Queen and the Group Prodigy #Dandadan234
