@sglockenspeil @ChrisMartzWX @brithume So the Florida beaches have been saved for only 30-50 million each year? Think about all the billions the Feds spent on windmills that could have saved if we had known about this sooner!

The New York Times has reported that the east coast beaches may disappear in as little as 25 years from now. Just kidding; this was published in 1995.

If you’re financially able to deposit the equivalent monthly payments into a savings account starting at age 62, you could come out ahead. Over the next eight years, you would earn interest on a steadily growing balance. In that case, the total income you forgo would be closer to $200,000 rather than $172,000.

The biggest gamble of your life? Social Security. The system tells you to wait. Take it at 62: $1,800/mo. Wait till 70: $3,000/mo. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Run the math. To actually profit from waiting, you have to live past 82. The average US life expectancy? 79. With the garbage in our food and the stress we carry today, making it to 82 is a massive bet. Are you taking the money at 62 and running, or holding out for the bigger check?

@CollinRugg The mask is off. Senator Schumer proves yet again that the modern Democratic Party exists to protect the interests of illegal aliens over the rights of law abiding US citizens.

JUST IN: Odds of a US government shutdown by January 31 spike to 85% on Polymarket after Senator Chuck Schumer announced Democrats would *not* advance the appropriations bill if DHS funding is included. "What's happening in Minnesota is appalling —and unacceptable in any American city," Schumer said in a statement. "Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans' refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no." "Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included."

Over the last week, SBA has reviewed thousands of potentially fraudulent pandemic-era PPP and EIDL loans approved in Minnesota. Today, our agency took action to suspend 6,900 Minnesota borrowers amid suspected fraudulent activity. In total, these borrowers were approved for 7,900 PPP and EIDL loans worth approximately $400M. These individuals will be banned from all SBA loan programs, including disaster loans, going forward. We will also refer every case, where appropriate, to federal law enforcement for prosecution and repayment. After years, the American people will finally begin to see the criminals who stole from law-abiding taxpayers held accountable - and this is just the first state.

@eMTBrides Choosing to respond with the same behavior only keeps the conflict going — a thoughtful response could have resulted in a better outcome for both of these people.

My wife and I are retired and enrolled in Medicare. Here's our average monthly cost breakdown: Medicare Part B Premium ($174.70 each) $349.40 (Deducted from our Social Security checks) Medigap (Supplemental Insurance) $447.99 (Plan G - Covers costs Medicare doesn’t) Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) $80.40 (Out-of-pocket prescription costs in 2025 so far: $1,681) Total Monthly Cost: $877.79 Total Annual Cost: $10,533.48 Despite Medicare being labeled as “free,” our out-of-pocket expenses are significant. Medigap and drug plan premiums rise annually, and we also pay deductibles and other costs not fully covered by Medicare or our supplemental plans.

@HumansNoContext One of my favorites from "Just for Laughs"! There are hours of these lighthearted pranks online. It's a Canadian show that gives funny, occasionally insightful looks at human nature—mostly laughs, with the occasional miss.
