“The one thing I'm convinced about Glass is that like it or not, it's the future.”-Marc Andreessen, June 2013

This is the floor ticket experience at Ye’s Night 2 show at SoFi stadium 😳 Would you have gotten these tickets? 🤔

Since 2015, Will Wright — the legendary video game designer behind 'The Sims' and 'SimCity' — has been consumed by a new obsession: how our ever-shifting library of memories forges the self. In his mind, each personal memory from your life is like a snow globe, a world inside a world. But that world could be connected to countless others in conscious and unconscious ways. He wanted to create a game in which a player could tinker with that unending maze of inner microverses, logging their significant memories for an AI to analyze and then mapping their own psyche the way they had mapped digital metropolises in ‘SimCity.’ It would be called ‘Proxi: Yesterday's You Tomorrow.’ The concept was part computerized LEGO set, part RPG, part Enneagram, part transhumanist mind-uploading fantasy, part reboot of Borges and Proust for the LLM age. It would be, in some ways, Wright's most personal video game yet. Fast forward to October 2024 — after spending ten years, a million dollars of Wright's own money, and a few million from investors; after they’d already started building out the game’s universe — the game was (and still is) nowhere close to being finished. Eric Boodman spent time with Wright and his ‘Proxi’ crew to find out when — or if — one of the most celebrated video-game designers ever's next (and even wilder) act will come to life: nymag.visitlink.me/ElSdEG

We are a singing species. Pretty much every other culture from history had a regular container for community to come together and sing. Singing appears second only to eating, sleeping and sex in the history of what humans give importance to. Yet now it is at best a niche hobby for those not part of an organized religion. This is a huge loss imo, and robs people of one of the most multi-faceted skills of being human. Singing has so many diverse functions. We can sing to celebrate, to grieve, to heal and to express our joy. Sing to connect with other people. Sing to our emotions to soothe them. Sing to plants to connect across the divide of our biological kingdoms. Sing to give voice to unconscious parts of our bringing. Sing to express our our creativity and our deepest insights into the universe. Sing to weave ourselves into ancient traditions and have their truths resonate within our hearts. A plant I spoke to once gave me the proverb: “Never speak anything that could have been sung.” I think we should be encouraging children to sing with the same urgency that we teach them to talk. And we’d have a lot more happy adults if we all sang as regularly as we eat, sleep or have sex.

Director of WHIPLASH (2014) reveals what happens to Andrew after the finale: “Andrew will be a sad, empty shell of a person and will die in his 30s of a drug overdose.” “Fletcher will always think he won.” “I have a very dark view of where it goes.”

unfortunately the melting takes many of thousands of hours today, but soon we’ll have the technology to speed it way up safely
