When I say Dune is one of the best pieces of audio-visual art, I’m not just talking about the plot. I mean things like this. There’s so much care and artistry that is put into these movies down to something as small as ambient sounds. I’m just so impressed.

not a lot of guns in dune bc almost everyone has energy shields which deflect bullets but are broken by knives. there ARE lasers but bc of the way they work if they're used on shields it kills the shooter making lasers much less favorable. they look sick as hell when used though

A hugely underrated aspect of the Dune universe's appeal is how Frank Herbert built a world where people zip around the galaxy in spaceships but then fight each other with swords and knives. It makes everything 50 percent cooler than a world of ray guns and robots.
