This is spectacularly irresponsible reporting by @ObserverUK and by Phoebe Davis. If a six-year old is trying to cut off his penis, then this is a reflection of severe dysfunction within the family/broader system within which he is operating. It is a form of self-harm by a child who doesn't have the verbal skills, or sufficient neurocognitive/emotional development to communicate his distress in a more adaptive and normative way. My first guess is someone is sexually abusing him and he has no other way to express his distress. Or, it could be he is witnessing domestic violence. Or, his nan or grandad (or dog), just died. Or, he's frightened by something he saw on TV or online. Or, he is scared of going to school. Or, he is scared of peeing/using the toilet. Or, he has a urine infection or some other undiagnosed physical illness. Or, he has an abnormality of development and he is in pain. Or, (most likely), his crazy parents simply convinced him that he is a girl! The point is, there are a myriad of reasons why this is happening and this child (and his parents), should be immediately assessed; first by a doctor (to rule out physical causes); and, then by a clinical psychologist, and/or a family therapist for a comprehensive, systemic evaluation. But I can say with complete certainty as someone who has spent 30 years working in child protection, is that the underlying causes of this little boy trying to castrate himself have nothing whatsoever to do with him not being able to join the bloody Rainbows. And writing stupid, irresponsible, scaremongering stories like this and calling him a 's/her' is not helping the situation! Or him.

If you're going to hold something up in front of the world you better know what it means. The regime on that placard would never let you march for it. You'd be arrested. Imprisoned. Killed. The freedom you used yesterday to walk through London is the very freedom that regime destroys. They kill women for removing their hijab. They rape women in prison. They shot a 16 year old boy in the head for protesting. Since December 2025 between 7,000 and 36,500 of their own people killed for asking for the same freedom those marchers used yesterday. They shut the internet down to hide the scale of it and you carried their name through the streets of a free country. This has happened before. Iran 1979. The left helped bring Khomeini to power. Trade unions. Students. Intellectuals. The moment he won he turned on every single one of them. Thousands executed. The people who helped him get there were the first ones destroyed. Same left. Same ideology. Same enemies. Different country. Different flag. These people aren't dangerous despite being wrong. They're dangerous BECAUSE of it. The people handing out those placards know exactly what they're doing. The people holding them think they're heroes and that's the scariest thing about the world.

On July 31, 1968, a young, black man was reading the newspaper when he saw something that he'd never seen before. With tears in his eyes, he started running and screaming throughout the house, calling for his mom... He would show his mom, and, she would gasp, seeing something she thought she would never see in her lifetime. Throughout the nation, there were similar reactions. What they saw was Franklin Armstrong's first appearance on the iconic comic strip "Peanuts." Franklin was "born" after a school teacher, Harriet Glickman, had written a letter to creator Charles M. Schulz after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot to death outside his Memphis hotel room. Glickman, who had kids of her own and having worked with kids, was especially aware of the power of comics among the young. “And my feeling at the time was that I realized that black kids and white kids never saw themselves [depicted] together in the classroom,” she would say. She would write, “Since the death of Martin Luther King, 'I’ve been asking myself what I can do to help change those conditions in our society which led to the assassination and which contribute to the vast sea of misunderstanding, hate, fear and violence.'” Glickman asked Schulz if he could consider adding a black character to his popular comic strip, which she hoped would bring the country together and show people of color that they are not excluded from American society. She had written to others as well, but the others feared it was too soon, that it may be costly to their careers, that the syndicate would drop them if they dared do something like that. Charles Schulz did not have to respond to her letter, he could have just completely ignored it, and everyone would have forgotten about it. But, Schulz did take the time to respond, saying he was intrigued with the idea, but wasn't sure whether it would be right, coming from him, he didn't want to make matters worse, he felt that it may sound condescending to people of color. Glickman did not give up, and continued communicating with Schulz, with Schulz surprisingly responding each time.   She would even have black friends write to Schulz and explain to him what it would mean to them and gave him some suggestions on how to introduce such a character without offending anyone. This conversation would continue until one day, Schulz would tell Glickman to check her newspaper on July 31, 1968. On that date, the cartoon, as created by Schulz, shows Charlie Brown meeting a new character, named Franklin. Other than his color, Franklin was just an ordinary kid who befriends and helps Charlie Brown. Franklin also mentions that his father was "over at Vietnam." At the end of the series, which lasted three strips, Charlie invites Franklin to spend the night one day so they can continue their friendship.

Terrifying to think that thirty years ago gender affirming basically didn't exist. People didn't even have the internet to tell them they needed gender affirming care to be happy. In fact they were so lacking in information, they didn't even realise they were unhappy. Poor fools.

This is an absolute scandal. Serbian football team Crvena Zvezda has been fined €95,500 after fans choreographed a motif of Jesus Christ! UEFA fined them for "displaying a message not fit for a sporting event and bringing the reputation of football and UEFA itself into disrepute". The image was a traditional Orthodox tifo of Jesus Christ or Saint Simeone the Myrrh-flowing, while the text underneath read: “May our faith lead you to victory". UEFA has stopped games for Ramadan and openly promoted BLM and LGBT campaigns during tournaments. But Christianity is ‘inappropriate’?! What an utter disgrace.

They told my parents I would never learn to speak if I used sign language. I did. I now educate doctors about the myth. They told them I would never learn to sing or read music. I did. Not only I graduated at the top of my class and got accepted at an Ivy League school and later a med school, I became a teacher. They told them I would never be able to be fully independent. I own a successful business. A house. A car. And I have my own family. Deafness was never my obstacle. People are. Don't let them tell you what you can't do.
