I agree with this sentiment. Problem is, Stephen Colbert was never a "comedian." Lenny Bruce. He was a comedian. Don Rickles. He was a comedian. George Carlin. He was a comedian. Jerry Seinfeld. He is a comedian. They were/are comedians because everything and everybody was fair game for clever laughs. Stephen Colbert is an unfunny, unclever doctrinaire propagandist, straight out of central casting from whatever historical totalitarian regime that strikes your fancy: the court jester who never made fun of the court. Stephen Colbert was never a comedian.

I know some people are upset about Stephen Colbert’s show being canceled. But can you at least look at these facts: His nightly viewer total - 2.5 million Viewers 18-49 yr old - 225,000 (!) No one was watching. His show was losing $40 million a year! There are more viewers on a random Youtube channel. Colbert’s biggest viewers were older people who don’t buy things (no ad revenue) At some point, the traditional media people need to change their product/approach. They are getting buried by the internet and podcasts .
