#PeopleZones uses #AssetBasedCommunityDevelopment to build on the positivity and skills of communities, focusing on what's strong, not what's wrong With Grant Funding of community projects up to May 2024 exceeding £200k, this is now closer to £300k, and People across each Zone have "seen a positive effect of projects improving on #CommunitySpirit, and increased involvement" Other Community Development successes include: 📷 2/3's of respondents felt that "the greatest change so far has been an improvement in the sense of community" 📷 There have been reductions in crime & people are feeling safer 📷 Increase in opportunities for personal & professional development, particularly through the Community Leadership Programme, funded by the @LeicsPCC the @VR_Network We still have work to do in achieving greater sustainability, but feel that "improvements in interpersonal skills... confidence, resilience, friendship, character, and team-building abilities" is certainly a step in the right direction to achieving our vision of "growing safer communities by building on strengths, creating connections, and empowering everyone to play a role" #NewParks #Whitwick #Thringstone #BellFoundry

“START WITH WHATS STRONG NOT WITH WHATS WRONG” @CormacRussell, whose #AssetBasedCommunityDevelopment framework has been used all around the world reminds well-intentioned health and community workers that there can be so wellness without fairness, and to starting with the assets of people and places— “co-producing” health by and with people instead of TO people #ISPC2024

Do any of you have an outdoor Bulletin Board in your neighbourhood? If so, I have a few questions: - Is it open so that anyone can post on it? - Are there specific responsibilities that neighbours have to care for it? - Any lessons you've learned? #AssetBasedCommunityDevelopment
