Did you know? Two years ago today, on April 7, 2023.. #SuperMarioMovie premiere date almost coincided with the start of the FIDE World Championship 2023 (#NepoDing). It was until the movie moved two days earlier to April 5. This was more than just exciting as it was.

Throwback to Game 12 of the 2023 FIDE World Championship! ♟️🔥 #NepoDing In a shocking game filled with dramatic turns of fortune, 🇨🇳 Ding Liren emerged victorious after Ian Nepomniachtchi played hastily and completely destroyed a commanding position.  This win was a crucial turning point for Ding. By defeating Ian, Ding equalized the match score at 6-6. With two draws in the following games, the match proceeded to tiebreaks, where Ding ultimately secured the World Championship title. In the game, Ding, playing as White, opted for the Colle System. However, an ambitious pawn advance by White backfired, giving Black a strong attack some moves later. Later in the game, a critical blunder by Ian shifted the advantage back to Ding, who capitalised on the mistake and secured the victory. One and a half years later, the World Champion is set for another match - this time defending his title against 🇮🇳 Gukesh D! The FIDE World Championship Match 2024 will take place at Resorts World Sentosa, 🇸🇬 Singapore, from November 23 to December 13, 2024. #DingGukesh The action begins on November 25 with Game 1. 🎟 Get your tickets now: 🔗 worldchampionship.fide.com/tickets.php 📷 Stev Bonhage

Why is Ian smiling? 😁 Do you remember his game against Wesley So from the previous round? He lost the exact same endgame with the Black pieces! What are the chances of getting the same endgame today, but with White? #SinquefieldCup #grandchesstour #nepoding
