I joined Flybridge because Jeff and Chip have all this incredible experience as investors and as parents, and yet they also have no egos.
They’ll offer insights from what they’ve seen over multiple market cycles, but then they’ll step back and say, “So, Jesse, how do you want to handle it?”
Sometimes it’s almost disorienting because I keep expecting them to push their approach onto me. They’ve got a lot more experience than me, after all.
But they don’t. If anything, they’ve encouraged me to take the lead. As they put it, “You’ll be the one here in 10 or 20 years, so start making those calls now.”
Over the past decade or so at Flybridge, I’ve felt supported and challenged simultaneously, which is exactly what I need to step up.
There are moments I question if I’m making the right call. But at the end of the day I know I have partners who will openly say, “We trust you.” And I trust them.
That’s more than enough to keep me motivated to guide the firm forward with the same spirit that they’ve infused into it from day 1. Find partners that make you better, every day.
