As an AD, I focus less on what a coach says and more on what they consistently do. Daily habits, player development, and program growth tell the real story.

God commands “Love your neighbor as yourself” It’s often difficult and may not be reciprocated but it’s possible. Jesus does it and the world needs a lot more people striving to be like Christ. “Love Your Neighbor”......Go First

We are not equipped to grasp the full understanding of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness. Thankfully, we don’t have to understand it to receive it.

If we are Believers, our age and qualifications are irrelevant. Depend on Christ, make yourself available, obey him, and he’ll use you for his honor and glory.

To be a great team, every team member must give and also give up something. Commitment cost you but what you receive in return is so much greater. 7commitments.com

Before you ask God for what you want, take a minute and thank God for all the blessings that you already have in your life. Never take anything for granted.

The Winning Difference
The Winning Difference@thewinningdiff1·
Winning is not required to be a winner. Scoreboards measure results. They don’t always measure character, toughness, or leadership. Did you compete? Did you respond the right way? Did you honor the standard? The game gives you a result. Your response reveals if you’re a winner.

Brad Underwood waited 26 years for a Div 1 head coaching job. Yes, he spent 26 years coaching high school, JUCO, and assisting. At 49 years old he was hired to coach SF Austin. At 53 he was hired by Illinois. He finally reached the Final Four after turning 60. The point: Sometimes if you truly want to be great you have to pay your dues. You have to stay the course and trust the process. We want microwaved success so badly. There are 20-30 year olds mulling over quitting the profession because it isn’t happening fast enough. You gotta understand that a high level coaching career is earned, not given. Congrats to Coach Underwood for sticking with the dream. He did what a lot can’t do: he waited. And he was rightfully rewarded.

As an AD, I constantly remind our coaches what a captain really is. It is not always your best player, even though that is the ideal. It is the player who lives out your program’s culture every single day. The one who holds teammates accountable, shows up and works, puts the team first, and does the little things right when no one is watching. A captain is not just a talented kid who makes plays. It is the standard everyone else should follow.
