They said all supplements are bad. It's amazing how scientists need endless evidence to confirm any benefit, yet they're so superficial when it comes to supplements. How can they possibly pass judgment on an entire product category that includes thousands of different products?!

Yes, that’s exactly the point: I’m not saying sauna is “useless,” but that it’s still an acute stressor, so it shouldn’t be marketed as an automatic benefit for everyone. If HRV drops during heat, cortisol rises, and fasting glucose can worsen in some people, then context matters. The fact that recovery happens during cooldown doesn’t erase the initial stress; it just makes sauna a practice that should be individualized, not treated like a dogma. On that, I’d say we’re actually pretty aligned.

The research tracks with what he saw. Sauna HRV dips during heat then spikes during cooldown but shows no chronic benefit beyond exercise alone. Cold plunge is different — RMSSD jumps 54-85% via vagus nerve activation, but fades in ~15 min. Neither replaces actual training for long-term HRV gains.

The authors interpret it as an adaptive strategy to “save energy” when you’re sick.Endotoxins are fragments of bacteria that are normally present in our gut. The gut itself acts as a protective barrier to keep them from entering the bloodstream. When the intestine is “compromised” by poor diet and disordered lifestyle habits, it becomes more permeable (“leaky”) and lets these fragments slip through. This is clear proof of how powerfully our psyche is influenced by our physical health—not just our mental state.

Incredibile! 🚨Questo studio ha dimostrato che le endotossine riducono significativamente nelle donne l’empatia per il DOLORE PSICOLOGICO altrui! Gli autori lo interpretano come strategia per “risparmiare energia” quando si è malati.
