Ethereum Name Service is the leading blockchain naming system and continues to grow in users and integrations (most web3 wallets/dApps, Paypal, Venmo, Godaddy).
It supports most major coin types and extends the global namespace, DNS, instead of ignoring it or trying to compete with it.
The focus has always been open, neutral infrastructure. That’s what makes ENS the only sustainable web3 naming service. You can even import your DNS names into ENS and use them the same way you can use a .eth.

Unpopular opinion: I get it from a business standpoint. There’s easily 10,000x more money in Web2 than Web3 domains. They should still support their Web3 products, but buyers should’ve known it isn’t a decentralized protocol like ENS.

We expect that 2-3 years from now DNS and the traditional web will be 99%+ of our business. For this reason you'll see updates on our site to reflect our new focus on traditional web2 domains. This is intentional. Web3 only domains were part of the crypto craze in 2021 but did not cross the chasm into mainstream usage. And for a while now we have believed they will remain a niche market now and into the future. They were a great place to start our journey into domains, but going forward our focus will be even more on the traditional market as it's the market that has crossed the chasm and is seeing mainstream usage.
