True. But Barry…ownership purposely buried the that stadium and traded away anyone that got good. That kills a fan base and done purposeful.
Barry M. Bloom@Boomskie

I'm sympathetic to the fans, don't get me wrong, but the A's haven't averaged more than 11,000 a home game since before the 2020 pandemic season. I covered it for all of my 51 seasons as a baseball writer. It's so sad on so many different fronts.

9/26/24 My view of the final out for the Oakland A’s at the Coliseum… Hard to believe it’s been a year already. The right field drums will still echo for generations… #LetsGoOakland

Austen, you were such a loving and beautiful cat with a lot of sass, a lot to say, and just being a loving companion when I came home and being great for my mom! Was tough holding you when you were saying goodbye, but thank you for the kisses before crossing the Rainbow Bridge!

With the timing of the full private funding being uncertain and an ever-evolving schematic construction plan, FAFO/frustration with John Fisher & Marc Badein is entering full throttle from what major venders & sub-contractors are sharing in the real estate development community…
Nevada Independent@TheNVIndy

The price tag for the A’s ballpark in Las Vegas is now expected to be higher than the cost of building Allegiant Stadium, which holds twice as many fans. Team owner John Fisher said he’s fine to pay more for a ‘unique’ venue. @howardstutz reports: thenevadaindependent.com/article/fisher…

@tmsaran @VitalVegas Nice thread. I’m not a reporter by any means but I work w/ many of the vendors/financiers Fisher has approached in developments I work on in the western US. Big unknown is financing because so many hard & soft costs are *still* TBD. I think MLB figures it out for Fisher though.

@2Legit2QuitDee anything I am missing or misstating here? I decided to exclude mentions of OTC steel hedging forward contract, purchasing commodity futures, US dollar/CNH options, etc. that might lose people before it even starts. 😂 @VitalVegas echos a lot of your reporting

The A’s held their Las Vegas stadium groundbreaking this week—a major public milestone. But when you step back, the picture that emerges is less about construction progress and more about optics. Here’s why from a capital markets banker’s perspective. 🧵 (🧵1/14)

The day after Fitch reaffirmed MLB's Club Trust Indenture w/ a note about the Trust's lending capacity increasing from $1.4B to $2.5B, A's created "Athletics Facility Fund, LLC". MLB teams can borrow from League's trust. Not sure if that's the A's intent. fitchratings.com/research/infra…

A former Nev, state senator: “The one thing people are waiting to see is the money, right? They’re going to be so far into this where it’s like, all right, this is do-or-die time. Until it’s laid out in full, there will still be those questions. … it’s still a work in progress.”

@MitchAbides Primary General Contractor must provide the maximum price guarantee. The primary GC hires the subs. Primary GC is in charge of sourcing material costs too. I’ve observed: even Chipotles, Taco Bells, Starbucks, several hotels and casinos can’t secure price guarantees right now.

@2Legit2QuitDee I thought the guaranteed maximum price was set, back when it went from 1.5 billion to 1.75. I guess that was a couple of months ago.

FAFO re: John Fisher. The ballpark is likely gonna go above $2B and still doesn’t have a “guaranteed maximum price” agreement from construction vendors as expressly required by SB1 as passed in 2023. Reputable vendors are hesitant to lock-in a price guarantee years in advance.

Not sure if Fisher’s getting forced out or simply selling cause no one investors have come forward…but “SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES OWNER HIRES BANK TO SELL MLS CLUB” 🔗: #recipient_hashed=2bc504958cbab18f2a490bb70ef8617fcdcabb1499b4b221d32cb0598aa87344&recipient_salt=d1abb48878cff4281c27b0aa7fdc89aa7d1e1ecda63f65eb4c70e5672d61629a&utm_medium=email&utm_source=exacttarget&utm_campaign=Sportico_BreakingNews&utm_content=615678_06-17-2025&utm_term=8164715?utm_medium=email&utm_source=exacttarget&utm_campaign=Sportico+Breaking+News&utm_content=615678_6-17-2025&utm_id=615678" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">sportico.com/leagues/soccer…
