The Penguins haven’t been close to winning a game yet. So me complaining about the officiating is not some “tHe PeNs ShOuLd Be WiNnInG” take. NHL referees getting swayed by the opinion of the home crowd in Philly last night is not unusual. The refs are spineless cowards that get influenced by game situations and home crowds all the time.

I think both poor execution/response and poor officiating can both exist at the same time, but maybe it's just me. Was the officiating putrid and consequential in this game? Yes, absolutely. Did the Penguins execute well enough to win this game notwithstanding? Absolutely not.

The irony of Hathaway getting mad at Crosby for diving is Hathaway has actually been fined for embellishment. Which means the NHL flagged him for multiple embellishments to eventually fine him. Hockey rules.
