@Megarhyssa @WheatGeerJJ @stampgreg Semi solid wheat isn’t so clear. Semi solid wheat still allows a lot of sawfly to survive. Thus this will also be reflected in the survey. What isn’t reflected in the survey is the reduction of sawfly fitness in semi solid wheat, meaning less eggs laid next year.

My neighbors wheat is starting to turn that golden color... That reminded me I need to ask for wheat fields across the province we can sample for wheat midge and wheat stem sawfly. After you combine, we will come in take a soil sample for midge,

@Megarhyssa @WheatGeerJJ @stampgreg Ok so solid stem durum dramatically reduces cutting and that is reflected in lower populations and thus it shows up on the survey that way.

@stampgreg good question Greg! And maybe we should call on @ABbugcounter to weigh in on the convo. But in solid stem, our survey results are not that good. as we count the cut stems (nubbins) left by the sawfly.

Interesting how the Liberals had to team up with the one political party that doesn't give a fuck about Canada or Canadians to keep their carbon tax. I have a theory on this. I can't prove it, and this is purely speculation, but here it is: There's no money left in the government coffers so they have to keep the carbon tax. During the last few years we've had a series of revelations about where our tax dollars are going. We have billions disappearing into thin air, hundreds of millions spent on consultants and contractors who delivered absolutely nothing, and millions more spent on lavish trips for Liberal ministers. There's also serious questions as to how much money actually exists in the EI and CPP programs. In the past the Trudeau Liberals would just create more money to cover for the lost cash, but now inflation has reached a point where the Liberals can't do that anymore without seriously damaging themselves any further politically. So the carbon tax stays because they have to find that money somewhere, and the where is in a tax on Canadian citizens for the simple act of living. The federal government is terrified of losing Alberta's investment in the CPP and the carbon taxes from western provinces because that would reveal how bad the situation really is and how much is actually missing. Therefore Trudeau is willing work with anyone willing to keep his scheme going in an effort save himself and his party from having to face the consequences of their own mismanagement and criminal behavior. That's what I think is going on here.

@xerofarmer I’m using an auger style sampler. Generally worked well. Sampled 10 fields out at Acadia Valley last week.

@ABbugcounter Poke any holes in hometown soils,Scott? Wondering how hard that ground will be when we start sampling next week. Mighty dry. Ground starting to freeze on top.
