“We too often forget to do a critical political-economy analysis of the museum: where does the money come from? How much capital does the museum possess within its collections? Who cleans, who cooks, who guards?” artreview.com/the-disordered…

@sarahclemwrites @RegretteRuane … And finally I found these two curiosities. They were taken of the Wellcome photographing the Brenda Marshall pictures in situ Cheers David

@sarahclemwrites @RegretteRuane Yes I have very much remember the piece. A cheeky hint of a nipple? I thought it was good. That building is long closed I think. ... I have a look, I can't find any pictures. Best David

From the psychiatric hospital where she was compelled to live for over 30 years, Mary Bishop made some of the most affecting images of sadness and isolation in all our collections. Her pictures speak powerfully about despair, but they're also full of tenderness and longing.

Around 1947, Catalan psychiatrist Francesc Tosquelles proposed shifting the location of cognitive experience from the brain to the feet. “When we walk in the world,” Tosquelles argued, “it isn’t the head that counts, it’s the feet. Knowing where you’re treading.”

@DebatINQUEST From HO definitions, “One use of force incident refers to one officer’s use of force involving one person. ….  In a situation where 3 police officers restrain an individual ... there would be 3 separate use of force reports submitted". So the injury rate is much higher I suggest

Restraint on people in mental health crisis is dehumanising and dangerous. Seni’s Law was supposed to change culture, practice & accountability. Racism in policing and healthcare a systemic issue. There is a urgent need to address ongoing disparities. theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/f…

Black mental health patients more likely to be injured at hands of police. Latest figures show racial disparity in use-of-force incidents among mental health inpatients in England. Institutional something or other comes to mind. Ah, yes…racism! theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/f…
