“The more conscious a man becomes, the less capable he is of happiness.” — Fyodor Dostoevsky The journey to becoming profitable can make you miserable. No one really tells you that. Before trading, people are lighter. They don’t think too much, They don’t question every move. They just live. Then trading comes in and it changes you. Not just skill but how you see yourself. You start noticing everything. Your hesitation, your fear, your ego, your need to be right. One loss isn’t just a loss anymore it stays in your head. I’ve seen it in people I have teached. Before they were calm, present, just normal. After some time they change. More quiet, more in their head. Thinking more, stressing more even when nothing is happening. Because trading forces you to face yourself. You can’t hide from it. It shows you who you really are when pressure hits. You’re not just trading anymore you’re watching yourself make the same mistakes, break your own rules, doubt your own plan. And that’s what messes with you. Not because trading is bad but because you start seeing parts of yourself you didn’t even know was there. Dont let trading destroy you.

Mark Douglas Quotes || Trading Psychology
If your edge puts the odds in your favor, then every loss puts you that much closer to a win. When you really believe this, your response to a losing trade will no longer take on a negative emotional quality.

During my trading career, one of the most important things I have learned is to care less when conditions are not conducive to your edge. I would rather miss several good setups in favour of waiting for a great one, where you can move with conviction and place the appropriate weight behind the trade. Never let the market compel you to take low quality setups, because you think it is your job to forecast price. Analysis is part of the process but it has zero impact on your bottom line. You are rewarded for the decisions you make and the quality of your execution. Do not waste your cognition on every turn in the market, focus your attention for when the stars align and then smack it.

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Improvement does not mean changing your rules. It means becoming the kind of person who can follow them. Once you are able to think this way, you will understand that consistency exists only beyond your edge. Consistency exists only after you have come to trust your edge through testing and practice. It is precisely because you do not trust your edge that you cannot stay consistent, and the emotional battle begins. But in the consistency reached through the right path, there is no emotional battle to begin with. I have been saying this here again and again for a long time.

You can turn profitable in just one month. But only if you master these three things: 1. Accept your losses. Don't take them personally. Separate your ego from the outcome and your decisions get sharper. 2. Stay disciplined. Don't trade out of anger or revenge. The real winner knows when to stop and wait for the right opportunity. 3. Be patient. The trader who waits for the perfect setup is the one who consistently profits. While everyone else is trading garbage, you're sitting quiet. Watching. Waiting. Then you strike. And it counts. Control yourself. Control the market.

Great FORTUNES are rarely built through constant motion. They are built through long stretches of RESTRAINT followed by rare moments of unflinching conviction. And our level of restraint and conviction are NOT what you and I think they are…😆 Most of us have a ton to learn to practice that level of High Agency on a second’s notice, even those who USED to be masterful at it. Let’s follow & learn with @steveburns ❤️👽
