30 years of negotiations: nothing to show for it. 30 days of military confrontation: Iranian oil unsanctioned, total control asserted over Hormuz strait. This is creating a timeline where militarist conservatives run Iran indefinitely. The reformists are beyond discredited.

@JohnHundeslit Oh, we can rebuild the relationship later, but the requirement for that is US to get its shit together. Right now the demented idiot child rapist represents the nation, and they should pack up and go to their shithole country and come back to civilized world when they behave.

@cristishady @rssndr @Tim_AveEuropa Also, when was the last time China or Iran threatened EU country with invasion and annexation and claimed sovereign territory of EU country for itself? With US it was probably this week, and after losing in Iran, they might want to do emotional support invasion to Greenland.

@cristishady @rssndr @Tim_AveEuropa Iran and China are not direct threat to Europe or when was the last time EU country put their troops in combat alert because Iran and China was about to invade and annex their territory? They are not our friends, but US is a lot more acute, direct threat. That's the world now.

@dahkelor @JariParantainen No ei yhtään erikoinen. Jotenkin erikoista olisi kuvitella että jenkit olisi jotenkin voitolla ja tietää mitä tekee, mikä saa sut näyttämään jo nyt kovin lyhytnäköiseltä ja suoraan sanottuna hieman tyhmältä.

@ALemppu @JariParantainen Erikoinen näkemys tilanteesta, mutta palataan asiaan kun all is done and dusted. Veikkaan että kommenttisi näyttää silloin varsin lyhytnäköiseltä.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 Why is it not so easy? Politics. The military is already prepared to do it. Trump wasn't want the domestic political backlash. His coalition is already wavering.

Genuinely, what did folk like Alinejad expect would happen? Surely, they understood that the Iranian government has a gargantuan and functioning bureaucracy, and that it wasn’t just a banana republic? Do they understand that if there’s a land war, we’d almost invariably wind up slaughtering hundreds of thousands of Iranian soldiers and civilians? Or do they earnestly believe that we could just parachute in Reza junior, and everything would be just hunky dory, and that everyone would come together and sing camp fire songs?

Note that if the operative standards in Washington were applied by Iran the US pilots would be tortured and killed. Maximum lethality not tepid legality, as the administration says

@SuvyBob @AnalyticaCamil1 So why the strait of Hormuz is not open if it would be so easy? I don't know about your track record but this interaction mostly shows you're stereotypical American in being full of themselves and not really caring how things work.

1. Yes I am obviously more upset by crimes committed by my own government over those done by foreign governments. 2. You were part of a military that killed 100,000 people and a record number of kids. I wasn’t. 3. I spoke out against the killings of Iranian protesters, even if I don’t necessarily accept your unverified numbers. You use their deaths as a prop to justify your illegal wars.
Yoni Michanie@YoniMichanie

You’re more upset now about a broken bridge than you were when the regime slaughtered 30,000 protestors. Let that sink in.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 Most Iranian leadership for the last couple centuries is Azeri or at least part Azeri. If he wants it (I don't think he does), it's not even clear he'd face resistance.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 Yea dude, you don't need much to control Hormuz. It's a tiny piece of territory that's mostly flat. All you need to do is have enough territory so the Strait can't be mined and be able to put enough to blow up small boats. It's not hard.

@SuvyBob @AnalyticaCamil1 Well there's a bunch of rogue actors in Washington which makes diplomacy with them pointless, because they have shown time and time again to not honor any deals nor negotiations. However, apparently the strait is open for those who deal peacefully with Iran.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 If there is no chain of command, then diplomacy is effectively pointless. That forces action eventually if you have a bunch of rogue actors in charge.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 Aliyev has an open road to Tehran. That's not a regime that's doing a great job holding itself together.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 The north side of Hormuz is flat. It's a tiny piece of area. The idea Iran is this unconquerable place is a myth. The British Empire ran through the entire place very quickly in 1941. Taking Hormuz is a cakewalk compared to that.

@SuvyBob @AnalyticaCamil1 It sure looks like built for it, because decapitation obviously didn't work and Iran is still firing missiles and drones daily. I would not count on army taking the country over IRGC which is calling the shots at the moment.

@ALemppu @AnalyticaCamil1 It's not built for resilience. In 10 years, there is going to be a secular nationalist dictator in charge. If someone can unite the army, they can take over the entire country right now. I predicted and opposed the Iran War, but the regime is desperate and not holding up 10 yrs.
