Yesterday, raised the issue of operationalisation of the Mini Maternity-cum-Child Care Hospital at Zakoora. I express my sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare and School & Higher Education, J&K, Ms. Sakeena Itoo Sahiba (@sakinaitoo ) for positively considering my demand.
This facility will not only cater to the people of Srinagar but also benefit residents of Ganderbal district and adjoining areas. Recognizing its importance, I have further urged the inclusion of a dedicated child care facility to help ease the immense burden on SKIMS Soura and Children’s Hospital Bemina.
I am hopeful that the Government will expedite the remaining work and ensure early operationalisation of this vital project for the welfare of the general public.

Many congratulations to Hon’ble CM @OmarAbdullah sb & Education Minister @sakinaitoo sahiba for introducing and successfully passing the landmark J&K Private Universities Bill 2026 in the J&K Assembly.
This historic step will inevitably transform higher education in J&K and bring massive benefits to our youth & people.
There will be no more forced migration to other states when we can have quality education at our own doorsteps.
Thousands of students will save lakhs of rupees every year on fees, travel & living costs.
Top private universities & reputed institutions are expected to set up campuses in J&K.
It will help create thousands of new local jobs in teaching, administration & allied sectors.
Overall a Win-Win situation for us.

Under the visionary leadership of HCM Jenab Omar Abdullah, we fast-tracked the completion and inauguration of the 120-bedded additional block at Bone & Joint Hospital. Importantly, HCM directed on the very same day that the facility be made fully functional.
While services were initially managed through internal arrangements, I am pleased to announce that, with the concurrence of the Finance Department and approval of the Council of Ministers, 64 posts have now been created for the hospital.
This reflects our government’s commitment, not just to building infrastructure, but to ensuring healthcare facilities are fully functional and accessible to the public.

@sakinaitoo sahiba is a battle-hardened leader who has endured immense personal loss yet continues to serve with dignity & commitment. Cheap remarks by @parawahid or his trolls only reflect their mindset. Personal attacks have no place in public discourse maintain decency.

Senior @JKNC_ leader and multiple times legislator & Minister @sakinaitoo sahiba won her first election in 1996 when @parawahid and his gang of online trolls would have been in school. Sakina ji entered politics in the most tragic circumstances, following the brutal assassination of her father, the late Itoo Sahab, in Jammu. Later, her uncle too fell to bullets. The tragedies she has endured are unimaginable. One often wonders how she continues to serve the people of Jammu & Kashmir with such grace, strength and unwavering will. She had the option to finish medical school, become a doctor and live a comfortable, easy life but she decided against it. Rather than making derogatory remarks, atleast show basic decency and respect to a battle-hardened senior woman legislator who has endured unimaginable personal losses yet continues to serve the people of J&K. Personal attacks on her have no place in political discourse and I condemn it.

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly passed the Private Universities Bill today, marking a significant step towards shaping a brighter future for our youth.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Hon’ble Minister for Education @sakinaitoo , and all stakeholders on the passage of this landmark legislation. The Bill is expected to open new avenues for quality higher education within Jammu & Kashmir, reduce the need for students to move outside the region, and attract reputed institutions to invest in J&K.
