@wholemars @Wodeshed 400 miles at 75 mph is horrendous. I wish FSD could keep a steady 85 when I tell it to. It’s nice but keeping your foot on the pedal is almost more cumbersome than just using cruise control. FSD is amazing as an overall achievement, but not super practical for every use case

@Wodeshed Oh, especially if you have a 500 mile drive. You will love not having to actually do the driving. I’m doing a 400 mile self-driving Tesla trip tonight.

This deserves more attention, because it’s a really cool @Starlink use case. They’re using collars on cattle that connect to Starlink satellites in space, allowing ranchers to create and adjust a “virtual fence” in real time right from their phone in the middle of nowhere. You don't need to be close to a radio tower anymore. Literally no-one has done this before.
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

Halter announced today the launch of direct-to-satellite connectivity using SpaceX's @Starlink for its smart cattle collars, a world-first that removes the need for cell towers or on-ranch infrastructure. "Using Starlink enables ranchers to manage cattle anywhere they can see the sky. Combined with a suite of new tools for reproduction, animal behavior, and precision pasture management, the release significantly expands what is possible for cattle ranch management. Beef ranchers in remote and rugged regions that were limited by connectivity can now turn to virtual fencing to run more productive and sustainable operations - at a time when they face rising fuel costs, labor shortages, and an aging workforce pressures." Halter’s internal modeling estimates direct-to-satellite capability expands coverage of the U.S beef cattle market by 2.5x. Until now, Halter’s solar-powered, GPS-enabled collars relied on Halter’s proprietary long-range radio towers. With direct-to-satellite, the collars can communicate via Starlink, eliminating ground infrastructure entirely.

Elon Musk just now at the witness stand on if Sam Altman and OpenAI win this trial: "It is not ok to steal a charity. It will give license to looting every charity in America. The consequences of this case go far beyond me or everyone here. The entire foundation of charitable giving in america will be destroyed."

@DirtyTesLa HW3 here 😂 When I confirm my spot with auto park, I unbuckle and put up my sunshade while the car does its thing. That’s pretty cool they brought that feature to FSD. It’s basically the same thing, you just don’t have to confirm a spot

Roughly 220 billionaires reside in California. They employ roughly 10 million people. If a wealth tax passes, everyone with a billion-dollar idea will think twice about whether they want to build that business in California. But that isn’t even the most dangerous part. When this turns out to raise less money than expected, the bar will be lowered to $100 million. Then $50 million. Then $10 million. Then $1 million. They’ll call it “the millionaire tax.” And since ~80% of the California population isn’t a millionaire, they’ll vote it into existence because “it doesn’t affect them.” But many of those “millionaires” are providing jobs. Housing. Innovation. Buying products and services. They’re a net economic benefit. If you discourage them from living in California, they will leave. Then it becomes a downward spiral where they have to tax everyone else to stay afloat. Not saying the system is perfect. But a simpler solution might simply be: spend less money and encourage more people to move back / create a billion dollar idea.

BREAKING: California's one-time "billionaire wealth tax" all but officially confirmed to be on the ballot. 93% chance.

Good morning @TeslaCharging, over the last 3 years living in Colorado, we have not had the freedom to travel with our Tesla. My husband’s family lives in a small town in Oklahoma and we have had to take a gas vehicle every time. That’s 13 hours of manual highway driving we didn’t have to do if we could take my Tesla and use FSD. There is no Tesla charging in this area, and even though we could get to his Dad’s house, we would not have the ability to drive around while visiting. We would have to trickle charge to be able to make it to a charger (that is out of our way) to get home. Not only does this gap prevent Tesla owners from getting to these locations, but why would someone buy a Tesla that lives in this area if there is no charging ability for them when they leave home? Please consider investing charging in the Panhandle of Texas and rural Oklahoma. I want the safety of my Tesla all the time, and want my car to go everywhere I drive. Thank you 🫶🏼

Waiting at Superchargers is rare, but when it happens, customers should be able to plan with confidence. Superchargers are the only fast chargers with predictive wait times and we're now using vehicle trajectory data to improve these predictions. Not all customers use Trip Planner to navigate to Superchargers, and amenities nearby also make forecasts harder (ex: cars queuing in a drive through next to a Supercharger). Hence, we've had instances where estimations were off, including at the Diner, where actual waits were longer than shown. This new model is much better, will keep improving, and is now being deployed at Superchargers globally. We have rockstar talent working on high impact projects like this at @TeslaCharging, join us! tesla.com/careers/search…

@SawyerMerritt Size comparison to starlink for commercial planes? I read somewhere that one of the major airlines didn’t want starlink because wifi housing typically adds too much drag to the plane (starlink is low profile). Would be interesting to see if they go for amazons offering instead
